You took on the mangrove challenge, and many of you got it right!
Last Tuesday, we put your knowledge to the test with a trivia question about one of our strongest natural coastal defenders: the mangroves. Quietly and constantly, these coastal forests help protect communities, reduce the impact of strong waves and storms, and provide shelter for marine life.
A big congratulations to our ππ¨π© π ππ’π§π§ππ«π¬ who answered correctly and stood out among the participants!
Winners, please send a direct message (DM) to the DENR Official FB Page to receive instructions on how to claim your prize. π©
Thank you to everyone who joined and celebrated the importance of protecting our oceans and coastal ecosystems with us.

Letβs learn about OCEAN HAZARDS! ππ©
Beyond the waves and weather, the ocean faces various hazards that range from natural phenomena to human-made effectsβboth impacting marine ecosystems and coastal communities.
Understanding these hazards is the first step toward realizing that the ocean, on which we rely for many resources, should be taken care of and not neglected.
π‘ Together, letβs stay informed and ensure that our actions don't contribute to these growing threats.

There are still things to be hopeful for about the environment. π
Across our coastlines, mangroves are being restoredβstrengthening natural protection for communities and supporting livelihoods that depend on healthy ecosystems. These efforts also contribute to climate action by storing carbon and helping stabilize vulnerable shorelines.
The progress may take time, but it is steady and shared. Through continued collaboration and science-based approaches, each restored area becomes part of a more resilient future for both people and the environment.

Before you look up the answerβ¦
Can you get this mangrove trivia question right on your first try?
Mangroves have been protecting our coasts long before seawalls existed, quietly shielding communities and marine life through changing tides and stronger storms. π
A small challenge for today, but one that might change the way you see our coastal forests.
Find out if you got it right this Friday. π

Behind every public school is land that must also be protected.
Through the Special Patent process, public schools may secure legal ownership of the sites they occupy, helping ensure that classrooms, campuses, and community spaces remain dedicated to education and public service for years to come.
Hereβs a guide on who may apply, the requirements needed, and how the process works.
