Most people who reached 60 years of age would have chosen to slow down and retire. But Jerblenia Bello, 64, from Polillo, Quezon, found a new calling as a volunteer under the Kalahi-CIDSS Program.

Jerblenia or “Tita Bam”, as she is called around her community in Brgy. Pilion, Polillo, Quezon, went on to lead three KALAHI sub-projects that improved the delivery of healthcare, education, and other social services for over 262 families in her community.

TIGNAN | Nagtipon ang mga miyembro ng Municipal Resilience Team (MResT) ng San Emilio, Ilocos Sur, noong Oktubre 20 upang talakayin ang Municipal Resilience Plan (MRP) sa ilalim ng Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP) ng DSWD Field Office 1 - Ilocos Region. Layunin nitong matukoy ang mga pangunahing pangangailangan ng komunidad at mga prayoridad na proyekto upang mapalakas ang kahandaan at katatagan ng bayan sa iba’t ibang panganib at kalamidad. Sa pamamagitan ng PCRP, isinusulong ng KALAHI-CIDSS ang aktibong pakikilahok ng mga komunidad sa pagpaplano at pagpapatupad ng mga proyektong nagtataguyod ng katatagan.

DSWD Cordillera Region KALAHI-CIDSS, convened the Provincial Inter-Agency and Technical Working Group (PTWG) Meeting on 15 October 2026 in Luna, Apayao, to strengthen stakeholder coordination for the implementation of the Panahon ng Pagkilos: Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP). The meeting discussed agency roles, presented Municipal Resilience Plans and consolidated programs, projects, and activities (PPAs), and explored potential funding support from the provincial government and national agencies. Governor Elias Bulut Jr. expressed support for the initiative, while stakeholders emphasized the potential expansion of the program to other municipalities.

DSWD Field Office IX-Zamboanga Peninsula KALAHI-CIDSS and World Bank Philippines visited Mutia, Zamboanga del Norte to assess stakeholders’ readiness for the early implementation of the Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP). Through focus group discussions, the assessment examined stakeholders’ understanding of the Community Resilience Implementation Process (CRIP), their roles in resilience planning, and their capacity-building needs to strengthen implementation and promote meaningful community participation.

Sa isla ng Gilotongan, Masbate, naging posible ang pagkakaroon ng malinis na inuming tubig sa pamamagitan ng kauna-unahang hybrid air-to-water generator system sa Pilipinas, sa pangunguna ng DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS. Ginagamit ng makabagong teknolohiyang ito ang moisture mula sa hangin upang makalikha ng tubig, na tumutulong sa pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng komunidad para sa ligtas at malinis na inuming tubig.

2026 𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐀𝐊 𝐊𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐇𝐈-𝐂𝐈𝐃𝐒𝐒 𝐋𝐆𝐔 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐒 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓 📣

In Barangay Balagunan, Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte, water was once something families had to walk far to find.

Through KALAHI-CIDSS, the community came together to improve their water system, extending its reach from Purok 1 to Purok 7. But the real story was not only about pipes, pumps, and concrete. It was about volunteers who gave their time, strength, and service to build something their community could truly call their own.

More than two decades later, the system continues to serve more than 1,000 households.

Because when communities take ownership, a project can become more than infrastructure. It can become a legacy.

In Balagunan, the water keeps flowing, carrying with it the spirit of volunteerism, perseverance, and bayanihan.
