𝗔𝗛𝗣𝗦 - 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝗔𝗠𝗖 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀, 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀

The AHPS- Medical Social Work Department of East Avenue Medical Center conducted a formal orientation on March 4, 2026, for first- and second-year residents as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen interdisciplinary coordination and optimize patient-centered service delivery.

The session provided a comprehensive overview of the department’s mandate, core programs, and standard operating procedures. Emphasis was placed on its functions in psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and facilitation of care coordination within the institutional framework.

Detailed guidance on referral mechanisms and documentation protocols was presented to ensure procedural compliance, efficiency, and continuity of care. The orientation also included a technical briefing on the financial assistance funds administered by the department, covering eligibility parameters, required documentation, and appropriate utilization in accordance with existing policies and regulatory guidelines.

The initiative aims to enhance residents’ understanding of institutional social support systems, promote standardized referral practices, and reinforce collaborative mechanisms that contribute to comprehensive and integrated healthcare delivery.

The Allied Health Professional Service - Medical Social Work Department of East Avenue Medical Center was recognized as a 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗔 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗲 by the hospital’s ARTA Committee during the flag ceremony on February 23, 2026, for its exemplary compliance with 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭𝟭𝟬𝟯𝟮, or the 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘈𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 2018.

The award highlights the department’s strong commitment to delivering efficient, transparent, and client-centered services aligned with national standards on streamlined government processes. The recognition was formally presented as part of the hospital’s regular flag ceremony, underscoring the institution’s continuing efforts to promote accountability and service excellence among its departments.

According to the ARTA Committee, the Medical Social Work Department demonstrated continuous process improvements that support anti-red tape initiatives within the hospital. These efforts contribute to faster, more accessible services for patients and stakeholders.

The department plays a vital role in providing psychosocial support, patient navigation, and assistance services, helping ensure that patients and their families receive timely and compassionate care. Its recognition as a Gold ARTA Champion Awardee affirms the dedication and professionalism of its personnel in advancing efficient public service delivery within the healthcare setting.

𝘘𝘶𝘦𝘻𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 — The Medical Social Work Department (MSWD) of East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) successfully held an intern exit conference for Social Work students from the University of the Philippines Diliman, formally concluding their internship program conducted from September to December 2025.

The exit conference marked the culmination of the students’ field placement at EAMC, where they were immersed in hospital-based social work practice under the supervision of the MSWD team. It provided an opportunity for the department to assess the interns’ learning outcomes, hear their reflections, and evaluate their contributions to patient care and social services delivery within the hospital.

The MSWD acknowledged the interns’ professionalism, dedication, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced public hospital setting. Department supervisors emphasized that the partnership with UP Diliman strengthens the practice of medical social work by nurturing future practitioners grounded in service, ethics, and social justice.

The conference concluded with messages of appreciation from the Medical Social Work Department, reaffirming EAMC’s commitment to academic collaboration and capacity-building through supervised field education. The department expressed hope that the internship experience equipped the students with the competencies and values necessary for effective and compassionate social work practice in healthcare settings.

In the true spirit of Christmas, the AHPS MSWD successfully concluded its Annual Gift-Giving for selected patients of East Avenue Medical Center. Beyond the presents, this meaningful initiative shared hope, comfort, and the gentle reminder that no one is forgotten during this season of love, kindness, and giving.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all MSWD staff whose dedication and generosity brought this initiative to life. We would like to give special recognition to our Department Head, 𝐌𝐬. (𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒊, 𝑱𝒐𝒚 𝒂𝒕 𝑱𝒐𝒔𝒉) na matagumpay na nakapasa sa September 2025 Social Worker Licensure Examination! Ang kanilang sipag, tiyaga, at dedikasyon ay nagbunga ng karangalang hindi lamang para sa kanila, kundi para rin sa buong institusyon.

Hindi rin magpapahuli, kasama rin sa mga nakapasa ang aming masipag at tapat na Admin Assistant I, (𝑨𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒍) na patunay na ang pagsisikap at determinasyon ay tunay na nagbubukas ng pinto ng tagumpay.
