NEWS CORNER || Army honors Vietnam War veterans in wreath-laying ceremony

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The Philippine Army honored the heroism and sacrifice of Vietnam War veterans in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on July 21, 2024.

“As we pay tribute to their immense sacrifice during their service in a foreign land, the importance of brotherhood without borders, shared goals and global commitment to peace become more inspiring. Indeed the service of those of who were involved in this conflict are timeless symbol of unity and hope and quest for peace that we would always long for,” Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, who served as the ceremony’s guest of honor and speaker, said in his speech.

The Philippines deployed the 2,000-member Philippine Civic Action Group, Vietnam (PHILCAG) during the Vietnam War. The group — guided by the motto "to build not to destroy" — was mainly involved in rebuilding key roads and providing humanitarian aid in the course of their deployment. #

17,000 PALAWEÑOS, GIVEN HELP IN THE OUTREACH PROGRAM CONDUCTED BY GO SHARE, PAF
More than 17,000 Palawenos were blessed with various assistance from the “All-in-One Bayanihan” outreach program conducted by Go Share philippines Tactical Operations Wing West (TOWWEST) Philippine Air Force, Local Government of the Municipality of Roxas, and other partner individuals and organizations last July 19 to 20, 2024 in the Town of Roxas, Palawan.
Services received by residents in the area include free medical consultations for children, elderly, and pregnant; consultations and eye surgeries; circumcision and other minor operations or surgeries; dermatology and dental consultations; tooth extractions, free haircuts, veterinary services, TB testing, Malaria and HIV, free face painting and photo booth and other basic services.
Citizens also received various donations such as medicines and vitamins, cans, clothes, shoes, slippers, and school supplies.
The local government of Roxas town is very grateful to the leadership of Hon. Dennis M. Sabando especially its citizens with the aid and services received from Go Share philippines AFP-PAF, and other volunteer organizations and individuals.
Local governments and private organizations and individuals from different sectors, the Philippine Air Force, Tactical Operations Wing West and other staff of the Armed Forces of the philippines (AFP) continue to partner in Palawan, to deliver aid and services to preserve the country and peace in the place.
