The forum is part of a series of fora and of the year-long anniversary activities of COURAGE.

In this forum, COURAGE founders shall share how the confederation was organized and established, as part of government employees’ struggles and victories towards a militant, progressive and nationalist brand of public sector unionism.

Let us celebrate and commemorate our struggles and successes together. In unity we shall overcome and prevail for the interests and welfare of the Filipino people!

The Confederation for Unity, Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees (COURAGE) stands in full solidarity with the Sandigan ng mga Empleyadong Nagkakaisa sa Adhikain ng Demokratikong Organisasyon (SENADO) and all Senate employees who continue to perform their duties amid the uncertainty arising from the ongoing leadership conflict within the institution. Their continued service reflects a commitment not only to their work but also to the Filipino people who depend on effective and stable public institutions.

We commend S.E.N.A.D.O. for defending the welfare and rights of Senate employees during this difficult period. Its actions underscore the vital role of unions in ensuring that workers' voices are heard and that their rights and interests are protected, especially in times of institutional instability.

Yet the challenges facing Senate employees extend beyond the current leadership dispute. Like millions of Filipinos, they contend daily with rising prices, inadequate wages, increasing living costs, and concerns over job security. They are not merely employees of the Senate; they are citizens, taxpayers, and members of communities who also bear the burden of the country's economic and political crises.

As fellow Filipinos, Senate employees share the people's demand for accountability in government. They, too, aspire for public institutions that uphold integrity, transparency, and the rule of law. Those who misuse public office, betray the public trust, or engage in corruption must be held fully accountable and subjected to the appropriate legal and administrative sanctions. Public office must always remain a public trust.

The Senate is a pillar of democratic governance. Its leaders, as elected public servants, must rise above factional interests and ensure that political disagreements do not undermine institutions or jeopardize the welfare of employees. We likewise acknowledge those Senators who reached out to Senate employees and S.E.N.A.D.O. and affirmed that workers' welfare must remain a priority amid these developments.

COURAGE calls on Senate leaders and concerned authorities to:
• Respect, recognize, and protect the rights and welfare of Senate employees;
• Ensure that political disputes and leadership conflicts do not compromise workplace stability, security, and safety;
• Uphold the dignity of public service by treating workers as partners in democratic governance, not as collateral damage in political contests;
• Hold accountable those responsible for corruption, abuse of authority, and violations of the public trust; and
• Guarantee that employees' livelihoods, benefits, and working conditions remain protected regardless of political developments.

Laslty, COURAGE salutes S.E.N.A.D.O. and all Senate employees for their unity and steadfastness during these challenging times. Their example reminds us that when workers are organized and their rights are protected, democratic institutions are strengthened and public service is better able to serve the people. # # #

The Confederation for Unity, Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees (COURAGE) unequivocally calls for the resignation of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano and demands that Senator Rodante Marcoleta address the plunder allegations against him. Instead of resorting to political theatrics and amplifying the baseless "18 marines" and "maleta" narrative, Marcoleta must answer the serious corruption allegations against him, particularly the ₱75 million in campaign donations that have prompted Ombudsman investigators to recommend the filing of plunder, bribery, and indirect bribery charges.

COURAGE asserts that the June 4 Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing was nothing more than a political charade. Instead of uncovering the truth, it was orchestrated to protect the interests of pro-Duterte senators, preserve their control of the committee, and distract the public from the serious allegations of corruption and abuse of power that demand scrutiny.

Aside from the conflicting statements and questionable backgrounds of the so-called "18 marines," COURAGE underscores that the latest claims of the group conveniently single out outspoken anti-Duterte figures, including Makabayan leaders Raoul Manuel, France Castro, Arlene Brosas, and Antonio Tinio. This selective targeting raises serious questions about the political motives behind these allegations, which appear designed not to uncover the truth but to manufacture distractions and fuel the Duterte disinformation network.

Lahat 'yon may ebidensyang puwedeng iharap sa Sandiganbayan," said COURAGE National President Santiago Dasmariñas.

Itinatag noong ika-17 ng Mayo, 1986 ang Confederation for Unity, Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees o COURAGE.

𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐂 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐅 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐍𝐎𝐖! 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀, 𝐆𝐀𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝟓𝐊 𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐘𝐎𝐍 𝐍𝐀!

We, the Confederation for Unity Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees (COURAGE) have submitted our petition, together with the All Government Employees, for the increase of our Personnel Economic Relief Allowance (PERA) to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) last February.

Yet, until now, we have no official positive news about it.

Today, more than ever, government employees and our fellow Filipinos desperately need economic relief in the face of rising inflation caused by rising oil prices as a result of the US-Israel war of aggression on Iran.

Truly, our take home pays cannot take us home anymore!

Hence, we must continue our call for the increase of our PERA with more persistence by asking our fellow public servants to sign our petition.

SIGNT THE PETITION NOW: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe2_O-F2smSAxdvyv79Y3uziyN0QeeIRCIyAsKB3ExC0TT67g/viewform
