🤝 The Visayas Regional Policy Dialogue on Advancing DRR-CCA Governance and Resilient Development gathered almost 150 participants, including 16 Local Chief Executives, alongside representatives from local government units, national government agencies, development partners, academic and research institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector from across the Visayas. Held under the theme "Where Policy and Leadership Meet Evidence-Driven Local Action for Resilience, " the Dialogue focused on a challenge the country knows well: the Philippines has strong DRR-CCA policies, systems, and tools, but the work now is making sure these consistently translate into action on the ground. 🌏

🇪🇺 Under the EU-Philippines Enhanced Partnership, the European Union is deepening cooperation on disaster risk reduction, early warning, and preparedness, with local communities at the center. Through the DRREALL-TA Project, local governments are being supported in turning that shared ambition into practical action.

🗣️ Discussions across the panels, the evidence and policy forum, and the policy co-creation segment produced the Visayas Regional Policy Messages, the region's main contribution to the DRREALL-TA Research-to-Policy Roadmap.

🌏 Advancing Leadership and Good Governance of the LDRRM Fund

On September 8–9, 2026, the DRREALL Project successfully conducted the final run of the “Advancing Leadership and Good Governance of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF) Training Workshop” through a hybrid setup at Citadines Amigo Iloilo, Iloilo City.

The workshop brought together 85 LGUs from across the Philippines, providing a platform for local leaders and DRRM practitioners to strengthen their knowledge and capacities in promoting strategic, accountable, and risk-informed management of the LDRRM Fund.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to DILG Region 6 Western Visayas for your invaluable support in making this event a success! 🤝

What exactly is the Visayas RPD? 🤔

The Visayas Regional Policy Dialogue is the first regional milestone under the DRREALL-TA Research-to-Policy Roadmap, themed "Where policy and leadership meet evidence-driven local action for resilience."

National and local leaders will examine what's working in translating DRR-CCA policy into local implementation, and co-create the Visayas Regional Policy Messages that will carry forward to the Mindanao dialogue and the National Policy Dialogue.

🌏 Strengthening Risk-Informed Planning Across Mindanao

The DRREALL Technical Assistance Project is proud to have supported the PlanSmart for Sustainable Human Settlements (PS-SHS) Harmonized Ecological Profile (EP) and Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) Cluster Roll-out for Mindanao LGUs, held on August 24–27, 2026 in a hybrid format across four sites: Quezon City, Cagayan de Oro City, Pagadian City, and Davao City.

Through the continued partnership of DILG and Expertise France, together with DHSUD and DOST-PHIVOLCS, the training brought together 87 LGUs from across the country, including:

📍 Quezon City – 1 LGU from Region 3 and 4 LGUs from Region 4B
📍 Pagadian City – LGUs from Region 9
📍 Cagayan de Oro City – 18 LGUs from Region 10 and 24 LGUs from Region 13
📍 Davao City – 25 LGUs from Region 11 and 10 LGUs from Region 12
💻 Online – 1 participant from Region 7

This rollout marks an important milestone in our capacity development support for risk-informed planning, under Output 2: Strengthening the capacity of DILG to conduct CDRA-related training activities using the DRMIS-enhanced module and the GeoRiskPH platform.

The DRREALL Project held its 4th Building Resilience: Advancing Leadership and Good Governance of the LDRRM Fund Training Workshop on August 4–5, 2026 at Richmonde Hotel – Eastwood, Quezon City. 🇵🇭

Held in hybrid format, the workshop gathered local chief executives and LDRRM Officers from 16 LGUs onsite and 28 LGUs online, representing 📍 NCR, Laguna, Quezon, Marinduque, Occidental & Oriental Mindoro, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon.

Participants strengthened their capacity to:
✅ Lead with accountability
✅ Align DRRM plans with local investments
✅ Integrate risk & inclusion in planning
✅ Promote transparency in fund management
✅ Mobilize resources for resilient, bankable projects
