๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ World Environment Day 2026 ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒ

Today, we celebrate World Environment Day and recognize that healthy ecosystems are essential to building resilient communities. From forests and watersheds to coastal and marine environments, nature plays a critical role in reducing disaster risks, supporting livelihoods, and helping communities adapt to climate change. ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒŠ

At DRREALL, we believe that resilience and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. As we continue to strengthen local capacities for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, let us also reaffirm our shared responsibility to protect the environment for safer communities today and a more sustainable future for generations to come. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿค๐ŸŒ

Step inside the Luzon Cluster LGU Resilience Readiness Monitoring Framework (LRRMF) and Disaster Preparedness Audit (DPA) Training for LGUs, held on May 26 at B Hotel, Quezon City. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Through interactive discussions, hands-on exercises, and peer learning, participants explored the LRRM Framework, the foundation of the Disaster Preparedness Audit (DPA) Portal. This digital platform will enable LGUs to capture and analyze critical DRR-CCA data, helping them measure resilience readiness, identify gaps, and make informed decisions that lead to stronger programs, better investments, and safer communities. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ“Š

๐ŸŽฅ๐ŸŒ Empowering local governments through smarter and more resilient planning.

In this video, ๐—˜๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฟ. Housing and Homesite Regulation Officer IV of the Environmental, Land Use Planning and Development Division (ELUPDD), Region 1 - DHSUD, shares her insights from the PlanSmart SHS Harmonized Ecological Profile and Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (EP-CDRA) for Resilience Training Workshop. ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ“Š๐ŸŒฑ

For Engr. Fabro, one of the key strengths of the training is how the PlanSmart SHS Platform helps streamline and improve local planning processes through technology and data-driven approaches. By integrating GeoRiskPH-powered tools, hazard information, and automated datasets, LGUs can more efficiently generate planning outputs, access critical risk information, and strengthen the preparation of Ecological Profiles and Climate and Disaster Risk Assessments.

Her insights highlight the importance of moving beyond traditional planning methods and embracing innovative digital tools that support evidence-based decision-making. Through initiatives like PlanSmart SHS, local governments are better equipped to develop climate-responsive, risk-informed, and resilience-oriented plans that help safeguard communities and guide sustainable development. ๐Ÿ˜๏ธโœจ

Implemented through the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development DHSUD Environmental, Land Use, and Urban Planning and Development Bureau (ELUPDD) with support from DOST-PHIVOLCS and through the DRREALL-TA Project of DILG and Expertise France, the training continues to strengthen local capacities and advance resilience across the country. ๐Ÿค๐ŸŒ

The training strengthened LGU capacities in using the PlanSmart SHS platform to support risk-informed, data-driven, and climate-resilient planning. Training a total of 68 LGUs across all sites, participants were guided on harmonizing EP-CDRA, utilizing GeoRiskPH-powered tools and automated datasets to support Comprehensive Land Use Planning (CLUP) and local resilience-building initiatives. ๐Ÿ“Š๐ŸŒฑ Through the workshop, LGUs were able to use the platform and successfully generate initial Harmonized EPโ€“CDRA documents. ๐Ÿ’ปโš™๏ธ

Implemented with the support of DILG and Expertise France through the Disaster Risk Reduction Enhancement at the Local Level โ€“ Technical Assistance (DRREALL-TA) Project, the activity reinforces the shared commitment to empowering LGUs with innovative planning tools and evidence-based approaches for safer and more sustainable communities. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ˜๏ธ
