⚖️🇸🇦 SAUDI ARABIA EX*****ON CASE: FACTS, FAITH, AND THE DANGER OF MISINFORMATION
In the wake of the reported ex*****on of two Bangladeshi nationals, Nazrul Islam Abdul Basir and Siti Akhtar, also reported as Sweety Akter, various claims have circulated on social media. Some are supported by reporting; others remain unverified.
Before using this case to attack a country, defend a government, or promote hostility toward Muslims, let us separate verified information from speculation.
🔎 HERE ARE THE FACTS WE SHOULD KNOW:
1️⃣ THEY WERE REPORTEDLY NOT MARRIED.
Nazrul’s father publicly stated that Sweety was not his son’s wife and that their family did not know her. This contradicts claims that they were a married couple, although it does not establish every detail of their relationship.
2️⃣ THEY HAD BEEN IN DETENTION FOR MORE THAN THREE YEARS.
According to reports based on Nazrul’s family’s account, he arrived in Saudi Arabia in November 2022 and was arrested approximately six months later. He reportedly spent around three years and three months in detention before his ex*****on.
3️⃣ SAUDI AUTHORITIES REPORTED A COURT PROCESS.
The Saudi government said the two were investigated, charged, convicted by a competent court, and sentenced to death. It also stated that the verdicts were upheld before a royal order authorized their ex*****on.
However, Bangladesh said it had not received advance notification of the ex*****ons and requested further information. Questions about the precise allegations, legal representation, and opportunity to defend themselves remain important.
4️⃣ THE VIRAL CLAIM ABOUT A FOREHEAD KISS IS NOT VERIFIED.
The official Saudi statement described the offense as “immoral” or “indecent acts” inside a mosque but did not publicly specify exactly what occurred. No reliable evidence identified in the available fact-checking supports the claim that they were executed merely for kissing each other on the forehead.
We must not invent details to defend or condemn either side.
5️⃣ RESPECT THE LAW, BUT DO NOT ABANDON THE PRINCIPLES OF JUSTICE.
Every country has laws that residents and visitors are expected to follow. Understanding local laws and respecting sacred places are important responsibilities.
At the same time, respect for the law should go hand in hand with transparency, due process, consular assistance, and human dignity.
☪️ A LESSON FROM THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD ﷺ
In an authentic narration recorded in Sahih Muslim, a man urinated inside the Prophet’s Mosque. Rather than allowing the situation to escalate, the Prophet ﷺ responded with wisdom and compassion, then explained the sanctity and proper use of the mosque.
The lesson is profound: wrongdoing can be addressed without abandoning wisdom, mercy, and sound judgment. This Hadith provides a moral lesson, although it does not establish the facts or determine the legal outcome of this particular case.
Let us uphold truth, justice, accountability, and respect for every human being. Defend the truth—not misinformation. Seek justice—not prejudice.
