𝗭𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗟𝗔𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗛 / 𝗔 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲: 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗮 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗼 𝗦𝗮𝗴𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘀

To honor Joshua Musico Sagdullas' life three years since his martyrdom, we collected and published selected writings by him titled "A Happy Comrade." You may access the zine for free: bit.ly/AHappyComrade

These were culled from his Facebook posts and range from tit-for-tat analyses on current issues to short essays about his experiences. He wrote about the inner turmoils of a student who feels compelled to subvert bourgeois expectations, to the perspective of an activist who has committed full-time to live and struggle with the Filipino masses. His writings show how serious he was in his political commitments, and how attentive he was to life. This zine hopes to give a glimpse of Joshua's intellect and heart.

Joshua also wrote in long form for the local news outlet Eastern Vista, which was forcibly closed down when its editor-in-chief, Frenchie Mae Cumpio, along with four other Tacloban-based activists–Marielle Domequil, Alexander Philip Abinguña, Marissa Cabaljao, and Mira Legion–was arrested on false charges on February 7, 2020. Four of the "Tacloban 5" activists were Joshua's contemporaries in the university and the mass movement.

We are enraged by the recent revelation that Joshua was captured alive by state forces, tortured, and killed as a hors de combat. We hope that this zine will help the public to get to know Joshua, understand the context of his political awakening, and motivate them to contribute to the Filipino people's struggle for rights, dignity, and liberation.

Justice for Joshua Musico Sagdullas!
