“We carry the saving cross through the roads of the world
Through the alleys of poverty and misery
Marching through a dawning day
to freedom and victory, to God’s life and endless glory.”

On March 1 (Ash Wednesday) we began the 40 days of Lent – a time to reflect with the heart on our Christian faith journey and to pray with the Lord for the renewal of our lives. On Ash Wednesday, Fr. Jett Villarin, SJ also announced to the University community the Way of the Cross (El Camino de la Cruz) – a yearly tradition “to gather the entire University community to ponder the meaning of Christ’s love and self-offering through the Way of the Cross.”
I would like to encourage the Loyola Schools community to join the entire university in this reflective and prayerful activity to help us “draw our hearts more closely to our Lord who shares this human pilgrimage with us from death to new life” (JVillarin, SJ). This year’s theme is “The Church Born from the Side of Christ on the Way of Salvation.”
The traditional University Way of the Cross is at the Loyola Heights campus on Friday, 10 March 2017. We begin with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 4:00pm at the Ateneo Grade School Chapel.

The Loyola Schools is assigned Stations 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9. We need 25 volunteers per station from our community to take on different roles, among which is to help carry the image of the Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno (Poong Itim na Nazareno) enshrined at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quaipo. We will be accompanied in grace on our Way of the Cross by this holy image.

For those who would like to lead the prayer or to carry the image of the Black Nazarene, please contact the following on or before Wednesday, March 8:

There is also an opportunity to avail of the Sacrament of Reconciliation on March 10, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is from 12:30-3:00 pm at the College Chapel. All this is organized by the Ateneo College Ministry Group.

May this Lenten season fill our hearts with an inner understanding of Christ’s humanity and may we feel His divine presence in our own pilgrimage towards peace, hope, joy, and love.

The month of November is a month of remembering.
As a Loyola Schools community we remember our departed relatives and friends in our prayers and masses.
Also with heartfelt solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the Northern part of the Philippines, we pray for those affected by the storm and its aftermath, especially those who lost their loved ones and their homes.

For this especial intentions we invite the Loyola Schools Community to attend the:

DAY OF REMEMBRANCE MASS

Date: NOVEMBER 4, 2016 Friday
Time: 12:00 nn
Venue: College Chapel

Please write the names of your beloved departed on the
Book of Remembrance placed at the main entrance of the College Chapel.

Thank you.
