At the Viet Nam–Philippines Business Forum, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. underscored the enduring strength of the Philippines–Viet Nam Strategic Partnership and its role in advancing trade, investment, and regional prosperity as the two countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations.

The President emphasized the Philippines’ commitment to fostering a more competitive and investor-friendly business environment through key economic reforms, supporting the continued expansion of bilateral trade and investment. He also called for deeper cooperation in digital innovation, manufacturing, food security, MSME development, and supply chain resilience, particularly as the Philippines chairs ASEAN in 2026, while inviting investors to explore opportunities in high-value industries and sustainable growth sectors.

“The Philippines is positioning itself as a premier destination for smart, sustainable manufacturing and high-value services. We are open to partnership, ready for investment, and eager to work with you in creating new opportunities for growth.”

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos hosted a State Luncheon in honor of His Excellency To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and Madame Ngo Phuong Ly.

Held as part of the Vietnamese leader’s State Visit to the Philippines, the luncheon featured cultural dance performances by Filipino artists that showcased the richness and diversity of Philippine heritage, while highlighting the enduring friendship, mutual respect, and growing people-to-people ties between the two nations.

Marking a new chapter in bilateral relations, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Vietnamese President and General Secretary To Lam witnessed the signing of four key agreements during the Joint Press Conference held as part of President To Lam’s two-day State Visit to the Philippines. The agreements cover defense cooperation between the two countries’ defense ministries, a Tourism Cooperation Program for 2026 to 2029, a partnership on information technology and digital transformation between DICT and Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, and an academic linkage between the University of the Philippines and the Academy of Public Administration and Governance under Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

In his remarks, President Marcos underscored that the Enhanced Strategic Partnership goes beyond securing bilateral interests, saying it firmly positions both nations as anchors of peace, innovation, dynamism, and sustainable growth across ASEAN and the wider Indo-Pacific region.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced the elevation of Philippines-Viet Nam relations to an Enhanced Strategic Partnership, opening wider avenues for cooperation and strengthening political, defense, economic, and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Speaking during his bilateral meeting with His Excellency To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, President Marcos highlighted the milestone as the Philippines and Viet Nam celebrate five decades of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership.

The President also reaffirmed the two countries’ shared commitment to peace, stability, ASEAN centrality, and a rules-based regional order anchored on international law, noting their common interest in upholding international law, including the 1982 UNCLOS.

Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos welcomed Vietnamese President and Communist Party General Secretary, His Excellency To Lam and Madame Ngo Phuong Ly at Malacañan Palace with arrival honors, underscoring the growing partnership between the Philippines and Viet Nam as the two countries commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of their Strategic Partnership.

Following the signing of the Palace guest book, President Marcos and General Secretary-President To Lam held a tête-à-tête meeting to discuss key bilateral and regional issues, with particular focus on strengthening maritime cooperation and advancing shared interests in regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

The engagement reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to further deepening their Strategic Partnership and expanding cooperation in areas that support economic growth, regional security, and ASEAN solidarity.
