𝐃𝐓𝐈, 𝐋𝐆𝐔-𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭

As part of the observance of Consumer Welfare Month 2026, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in partnership with the Municipal Treasury Office of LGU-Quirino, Isabela, conducted an inspection and validation of weighing instruments at the Quirino Public Market under the "Operation Timbangan" program on October 7, 2026.

DTI and LGU personnel inspected weighing scales used by vendors and verified their compliance with regulations on weights and measures.

The inspection aimed to ensure that these devices are accurate, properly calibrated, and compliant with established standards.

The "Operation Timbangan" campaign is one of the key activities conducted during Consumer Welfare Month, highlighting the government's commitment to promoting consumer rights, fair business practices, and public trust in commercial transactions.

𝗗𝗧𝗜 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela Provincial Office, through Negosyo Center Quirino, conducted a community learning activity for business owners, Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) members, and Barangay Treasurers on September 16, 2026, at the Bagsakan Center, Luna, Quirino, Isabela.

The activity focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge on emerging digital tools, digital payments, business management, and financial literacy as part of the continuing transition toward a more digital business environment.

The activity was organized and supported by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Quirino through the Office of the Municipal Treasurer, in coordination with DTI Isabela and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

The first session was facilitated by Business Counselor Charlotte Aira G. Mejia of Negosyo Center Quirino, who discussed an Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its practical applications in business. The session also included the BDO × BSP module on Exit Strategy sa Pagnenegosyo, highlighting the importance of preparing for the future and making informed decisions for the continuity or transition of a business.

DTI Isabela Consumer Protection Division Chief Mr. Elmer Agorto served as the second resource speaker and discussed how business owners can embrace digital payments and utilize digital platforms in their business operations. The discussion also emphasized the importance of Business Education and Information (BEI) in helping entrepreneurs adapt to the changing digital business environment.

Completing the learning sessions, Mr. Emilson Jimenez, Administrative Officer IV of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), conducted the Digital Financial Literacy session. The discussion provided participants with practical knowledge on managing finances in a digital environment and encouraged the responsible and informed use of digital financial services.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela Provincial Office participated in the Orientation on Paleng-QR PH Plus conducted by the Municipal Government of Quirino, Isabela, on September 7, 2026, at the Municipal Conference Hall. The activity aimed to strengthen awareness and understanding of the program among key stakeholders and support the municipality’s efforts toward digital financial inclusion.

The activity was led by the Municipal Government of Quirino, headed by Hon. Mayor Edward D. Juan, with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) serving as the resource speaker, and DTI Negosyo Center Quirino and the Municipal Local Government Operations Office (MLGOO) providing support.

The orientation brought together Sangguniang Bayan Members, Market Vendors Association, Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA), Financial Service Providers, and other stakeholders comprising the Paleng-QR PH Plus Technical Working Group (TWG).

BSP congratulated the LGU Quirino for its initiative and continued support in promoting digital payments and financial inclusion within the community. Through the collaboration of the LGU Quirino, BSP, DTI, and other partner stakeholders, efforts are being strengthened to promote accessible and convenient digital payment solutions in the community.

As the municipality takes steps toward digital financial inclusion, DTI Isabela, through Negosyo Center Quirino, continues to support initiatives that contribute to a more accessible and digitally enabled local marketplace—where convenience, innovation, and financial inclusion go hand in hand.
