​Ipinamalas ng mga kabataan ng San Mariano NHS ang kanilang angking galing, malikhaing kaisipan, at lalim ng kaalaman sa larangan ng siyensya at teknolohiya upang maitampok ang kahalagahan ng biotechnology sa ating lipunan. Sa mahigit 200 na kalahok mula sa buong Pilipinas, nanguna ang entry ng San Mariano National High School.

​Sa ngalan ng buong Pamahalaang Bayan ng Roxas sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Mayor Jerwin Sanque Dimapilis , taos-pusong pagbati sa mga mag-aaral, mga g**ong tagapagsanay (coaches), at sa buong pamunuan ng San Mariano NHS!

​Ang inyong tagumpay ay patunay na ang kabataang Roxaseño ay mahusay, malikhain, at kayang makipagsabayan sa pambansang antas. Ipinagmamalaki kayo ng buong Roxas! 💚🎉

Rambutan farmers in Oriental Mindoro are being encouraged to process excess harvest into other products to reduce postharvest losses and create additional sources of income.

Recently, the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAgO) conducted a training to 32 farmers’ cooperatives, associations and farmers from different municipalities in the province.

The training focused on processing rambutan into products that can be sold beyond the fresh fruit market, where prices may decline when supply increases during the peak harvest season.

Bilang bahagi ng patuloy na pagpapatibay ng animal disease prevention, control, at biosecurity measures sa lalawigan, isinagawa ang ocular inspection sa mga lokasyong posibleng pagtayuan ng Animal Quarantine Checkpoints sa mga pangunahing boundary areas ng Oriental at Occidental Mindoro.

Layunin ng aktibidad na masuri ang mga lokasyon batay sa kanilang accessibility, strategic location, traffic flow, at suitability bilang animal quarantine checkpoint para sa mas epektibong pagbabantay at pagkontrol sa pagpasok at paglabas ng mga hayop, at iba pang animal products.

Ang pagtatatag ng mga animal quarantine checkpoints ay bahagi ng hakbang ng 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧, sa pamamagitan ng 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞, upang mapalakas ang border biosecurity at maiwasan ang pagpasok at pagkalat ng mga sakit ng hayop, kabilang ang African Swine Fever (ASF) at iba pang transboundary animal diseases.

Sa pamamagitan ng mas mahigpit na monitoring at koordinasyon sa mga concerned LGUs at stakeholders, patuloy nating pinangangalagaan ang kalusugan ng mga alagang hayop, kabuhayan ng ating mga livestock raisers, at seguridad ng livestock industry ng Oriental Mindoro.

The Oriental Mindoro provincial government is intensifying its border biosecurity measures following the confirmation of the province’s first African Swine Fever (ASF) case in neighboring Occidental Mindoro last week.

As part of efforts to prevent the spread of the highly contagious swine disease into Oriental Mindoro, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) head Vinscent B. Gahol, Acting Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Alfredo Manglicmot, and Provincial Administrator Atty. Earl Ligorio R. Turano II conducted an inspection on Sept. 17 of possible sites for establishing Animal Quarantine Checkpoints (AQC) along roads connecting the two provinces.

One identified entry point for an AQC is located at the boundary of Magsaysay town in Occidental Mindoro and Sitio Cambayang in Barangay Cabugao, Bulalacao town, Oriental Mindoro.

The planned quarantine checkpoint is part of the provincial government’s efforts to strengthen border controls and prevent the entry into Oriental Mindoro of live pigs, fresh and frozen pork, and pork-based products not registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The provincial government has also assigned additional personnel to the possible AQC to ensure closer monitoring and stricter inspection of vehicles and animal and meat products entering the province.

The intensified monitoring will be carried out in coordination with the municipal government of Bulalacao and the Philippine Army.

Manglicmot said the strengthened border biosecurity measures aim to protect the province’s swine population from ASF while safeguarding the livelihood of Mindoreños who depend on the hog industry. | via Ace Sapit/PIA
