Fun day at work yesterday!
We witnessed the opening of Barangay PAG-ASA, which is set to cater to juveniles and, eventually, serve young people from across the province.
I also had the privilege of attending, as a guest, the 4Ps graduation, where I heard many inspiring stories and life lessons real examples of how government programs like 4Ps can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our people.
One thing Maβam Chandi said really stayed with me: there are no coincidences in life. Every person you meet and every struggle you face somehow brings you to where you are today. And I believe that to be true.
For me, programs such as these will always be available, but ultimately, it is in the hands of the people how they choose to make use of the opportunities given to them.
This is also a true testament to one of the most important lessons I have learned from Jesse Robredo and the Young Leaders for Good Governance: we must teach our constituents not to be merely passive recipients of government programs, but active partners in development.
Government must work hand in hand with the people not only to deliver programs, but to help bring out the fullest potential of those programs and, more importantly, the fullest potential of our constituents themselves.
Because good governance is not simply about what government can give. It is also about empowering people to build better lives with the opportunities placed in their hands.
