CULTURAL ADVISORY REMINDER
In observance of Obaya, the following tourism activities are hereby temporarily suspended on September 11, 2026.

• Mt. Ampacao
• Nabasa-ang
• Bokong Falls
• Echo Valley

Likewise, farm work and carpentry work with in the Central Zone extending to Barangay Ambasing are temporarily suspended on the day

Residents, visitors, guides, and other concerned individuals are advised to minimize movement and refrain from unnecessary activities/noise during the period of observance.

Let us take this time to pause, reflect, and respect the wisdom of our elders and the traditions of Sagada.

Cultural update (PADEDA):
1. As agreed by the dap-ay elders on September 2, 2026 at Dap-ay Bilig, a special ritual will be conducted on September 11-14 , 2026 (a 4 day ubaya):
A. September 11 -Sagangsang -nadagsen na ay ubaya, bawal nan lomokso, sites closed, no work. "Tikiden nan umili, through dap-ay reps nan Natag-ey, particularly nan babawiyan id Dodo-owan (Bato)". This activity is very important as the ili through elders revives an almost forgotten semi-annual community ritual that is very significant to our established cultural history. Major parts of our cultural prayers are based and lifted on this particular cultural event. It is also in this ritual that cultural historical personalities are mentioned. Relative to this, men-apoy nan umili id todey (september 11). It is encouraged ay nan wada apoyan da sd sada omey men-apoy. No adi u ammo ay wada dalikan u isdi, sooten u snan ka clan u tay by family or clan nan ikakan nan men-apoy sd, mabalin matapnok kayo. As per cultural belief, nan event aynay et very much related snan kaganakan nan sin-asawa.

B. September 12. Plain ay ubaya - mabalin nan lomokso, sites open.

C. September 13 - WASIL, ubaya ladta kem mabalin nan Lomokso, tourist sites open.

D. September 14. Bawi, ubaya kem mabalin nan lomokso, tourist sites open.

2. Pangat - September 15. Activity - Pakde ya Menbinaliw-a nan amam-a (ubaya kem mabalin nan lomokso, sites open).
September 16 and 17. Activity -sungba (kotlong) ubaya kem mabalin nan lomokso, sites open.

Note: September 11-14, strictly bawal nan senga, awni ta maitekwang nan sokod ssan bawi.

September 15-17, mabalin nan senga no nadalus ay banag, e.g waned d baey, waned d bayas, ya waned d ragsak. Bawal nan senga ay waned d pese onno natey, malaksig no madama ay naibabadeng nan natey tay arigna ay sengan d matago nan maikkan.

📢REMINDER: September 1, 2026 | Sagangsang

In observance of the Obaya tomorrow, September 1, everyone is reminded to observe the following:

1. FIELD WORK AND CARPENTRY WORKS ARE SUSPENDED.
All field and carpentry activities are temporarily suspended for the duration of the Obaya.

2. TOURS IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL ZONES ARE SUSPENDED.
The following tourist destinations will be closed to visitors tomorrow:

* Sumaging Cave
* Lumiang Burial Cave
* Mt. Ampacao
* Nabas-ang
* Echo Valley
* Bokong Water Falls

3. MINIMIZE MOVEMENT
Our transport groups are requested to minimize unnecessary movement within the community and observe the restrictions in respect of the Obaya.

Let us all cooperate and respect this important cultural and community observance.

NOTICE TO TOURISTS❗️

Please be informed that Echo Valley, Paytokan, Bokong Waterfalls, Nabas-ang to Mt. Ampacao, Sumaguing Cave, and Lumiang Cave will be temporarily closed on August 27–28 and September 1, 2026, in observance of traditional community holidays.

Update on cultural community event (PADEDA).
Starting today, august 26 to september 1 Wangen d Sinaba, it's a seven (7) day ubaya.
The ubaya, however is classified as follows:
august 27 and 28: no-work isnan snan paypayew, tinadag nan ili, including tourist sites within the domain, namely: ampacao, echo valley, bokong, danum.
August 26, 29, 30, 31: ubaya kem working day (boknag), allowed nan lumokso ya omey isnan tourist sites.
September 1. sagangsang (palte-eng ay ubaya), strictly no-work. Please limit movements, limit noise, all tourist sites covered isnan no-work prohibition, sumaguing is included.

CULTURAL UPDATE (PADEDA). The community enters/starts its new agricultural cycle on August 16, 2026. This day under the community's cultural practices is called "LAKAT". Traditional Cultural highlights atrached to the "Lakat" are:
1. Pakde in the early morning to be conducted at dap-ay bilig;
2. A three-day Ubaya (kem boknag ladta - "no work restriction");
3. By noon time on the 16th, "Buwag" ensues at the babbey rice fields, Demang vs. Dagdag and Patay combined. "LE-LE-A-A-LE" is shouted/chanted to challenge the ooposing side;
4. Sunob -cooking of "bokel" in the dap-ays. Note: at present, items 3 and 4 became optional. . . .

Notice is hereby issued that the indigenous community of Patay, Demang, Dagdag (PADEDA) will conduct a ritual on August 3, 2026 due to the current unidentified Swine desease. Relative to this ritual, "sedey" is declared . "Palte-eng na ay ubaya" so everybody is required to observe the following: "Ma-id d lumukso, ma-id d men-ngab-ngaba, maid menkalkaligong", also minimize your movement. The above regulation applies to all, "Community members and visitors". Penalty for violation, otik-ugo, depending on the gravity act/s committed.
