Umagos ang suporta at pag-asa para sa mga magsasaka mula sa Abante Agno-Sinocalan Federated Irrigators Association, Inc. o AASFIA sa Pangasinan sa pagdiriwang ng Farmers-Irrigators Day 2026 ngayong araw, matapos magbigay ng buong suporta si Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado M. Estrella III.

Sa kanyang mensahe, tiniyak ni DAR Secretary Estrella III ang tuloy-tuloy na pagdaloy ng suporta para sa mga magsasaka.

“Doon po sa National Irrigation Administration, mayroon pong tinatawag na Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Fund. Ito pong mga pondong ito ay nakareserba para sa mga agrarian reform beneficiaries… At ‘yang pondong ‘yan, gagamitin natin para lalong gumanda ang daloy ng tubig, para lalong mas maraming tubig ang mapaparating natin sa ating mga kabukiran.”

Dagdag pa ng Kalihim, walang patid ang suporta para sa mga nasa sektor ng agrikultura na patuloy na nagbibigay ng suplay ng pagkain sa bansa.

“Kakabsat ko nga padak nga mannalon, haan kayo madandanagan, haan kami nga umibbat… (Mga kapatid at kapwa kong magsasaka, huwag kayong mag-alala, hindi kami bibitiw…) Nandito lang kami sa likod ninyo, hindi kami bibitiw. Tutulong kami sa mga magsasaka, dahil kayo ang nagpapakain sa ating bansa.”

Sa pagdiriwang, iba’t ibang ani at pananim ng mga magsasaka ang ibinida, mga produktong bunga ng maayos na patubig sa mga bukirin at simbolo ng dedikasyon ng mga magsasaka na, kapag tuloy-tuloy ang pag-agos ng suporta para sa kanila, uusbong ang masaganang ani at pag-asa.

Nagbigay rin ng buong suporta at presensya sa pagdiriwang sina DAR Ilocos Region Regional Director Maria Ana Francisco, CESO III; NIA Ilocos Region Acting Regional Director Engr. Geffrey Catulin; NIA-PIMO Division Manager Engr. John Molano; Urdaneta City Mayor Hon. Julio Parayno III; at iba pang mga opisyal mula sa NIA.

Rural development agencies in Luzon, united under the National Convergence Initiative for Sustainable Rural Development (NCI-SRD), continue to strengthen their commitment to inclusive growth for agrarian reform beneficiaries, smallholder farmers, fisherfolk, upland dwellers, and indigenous peoples (IPs).

Through the convergence, DAR, DA, DENR, and DILG combine their planning, budgeting, programs, and monitoring efforts to maximize resources and improve the delivery of rural services.

This commitment was further strengthened during the Stakeholder Consultation for the Luzon Cluster held on May 13-15, 2026, in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

DAR Ilocos Region Regional Director Maria Ana Francisco, CESO III, who also serves as Vice Chairperson of the Regional Convergence Initiative Technical Working Group in the Ilocos Region, expressed her support for the convergence and emphasized the importance of unity during challenging times.

“One of the biggest challenges of a national convergence initiative during times of crisis is maintaining strong coordination among multiple agencies and stakeholders while responding quickly to urgent needs, which tests the strength of the collaboration. We are all here to ensure that no community is left behind,” she said.

Turning agrarian reform families into champions of clean energy

Agrarian reform families are set to become champions of clean energy through a free technical-vocational training on Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Installation, made possible through the partnership of DAR Pangasinan and TESDA Urdaneta City.

Under the program, 25 scholars who are family members of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) and members of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in Pangasinan will undergo a 36-day training on PV Systems Installation. The scholars will also receive a daily allowance during the training.

Free assessments will also be provided to help scholars earn a National Certificate Level II (NC II), qualifying them as certified PV system installers.

PV systems convert sunlight into usable electricity, providing clean and renewable energy that helps protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Student filmmakers, DAR Ilocos Region prep for PelikulAgraryo 2026 with film laboratory

Student filmmakers geared up for PelikulAgraryo 2026: DAR Central and Regional Film Festival with a three-day film laboratory hosted by the Department of Agrarian Reform Ilocos Region, held on May 12-14.

Through a hybrid online and onsite set-up, student production teams from the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan expanded their comprehension on the programs and projects of DAR as well as honed their skills in filmmaking through talks and workshops led by Regional Director Maria Ana Francisco and award-winning filmmaker Zig Dulay.

RD Francisco opened the film laboratory by highlighting the importance of the youth in revitalizing the agricultural sector through creative media. She then introduced the various services of DAR for its agrarian reform beneficiaries and beneficiary organizations to supplement the students’ knowledge as they craft their entries for the film festival.

Meanwhile, Zig Dulay talked film conceptualization, writing, and ex*****on, emphasizing on the power of the film to shape society, and the power of society to shape the film, especially in relation to agrarian matters.

“Ang pelikula ay hindi lamang sining– ito ay paninindigan (The film is not only an art form– it’s a way to make a stand),” he stated.

Dulay also held breakout room sessions with the production teams to help them flesh out their short film ideas for PelikulAgraryo.

To round out the film laboratory experience, the students also participated in various activities such as an interactive quiz game about DAR, group discussions with DAR community development officers, and screenings of PelikulAgraryo 2025 short film entries.

Now on its sophomore year, the PelikulAgraryo: DAR Central and Regional Film Festival celebrates the success stories of ARBs and ARBOs, youth engagement, and the power of creative expression, with the current theme of “Tinig ng Lupang Malaya: Kwento at Aral-Agraryo, Butil na Pamana sa Kabataan (Voices of the Liberated Land: Agrarian Stories and Lessons, Seeds of Legacy for the Youth).”

Upang patatagin ang nagkakaisang layunin na mabigyan ng malinaw na pagmamay-ari ang mga lupang sinasaka ng mga agrarian reform beneficiaries sa ilalim ng Project SPLIT, nagsama-sama sa isang pagpupulong ang Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, at LGU Umingan, Pangasinan.

Tinalakay sa pagpupulong ang mga hakbang para sa maayos at epektibong pagpapatupad ng Project SPLIT, lalo na sa mga lupang saklaw ng repormang agraryo sa paligid ng Mt. Amorong Reserve, isang mahalagang ecological zone sa bayan ng Umingan, Pangasinan, na sumusuporta sa biodiversity, katatagan ng lupa, at maayos na daloy ng tubig sa loob ng munisipalidad.
