The Philippine Rice Information System (PRiSM) is preparing for its forthcoming implementation in 2024 through a national retooling activity. The event, titled "National Retooling on PRiSM Field Protocols for 2024 Implementation," was held on July 31 to August 4, 2023, in San Jose, Nueva Ecija.
The activity updated PRiSM regional facilitators, data collectors, and partners from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Offices (DA-RFOs) on PRiSM field protocols for the first semester 2024 implementation. It also focused on enhancing ground data and information collection, management, and utilization to improve its quality and reliability.
During the activity, PRiSM outputs, such as data on rice area, yield and production, and rice areas affected by floods and droughts from 2018 to 2023 were presented. The presentation gathered valuable insights and feedback on the outputsβ usability at the regional level. By identifying areas for improvement, the PRiSM team is committed to enhancing the effectiveness and utilization of these outputs for end users.
Participants in the event included PRiSM staff from the PhilRice central experiment station and branch stations, as well as partners from DA-RFOs. The collaboration between these partners helps strengthen the implementation of PRiSM and facilitates the efficient collection and management of ground data and information.
The successful organization of this activity will undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of PRiSM and its mission to improve the rice industry through accurate, timely, and reliable rice information.
