Through interactive discussions and learning activities, BFAR raised awareness among young learners on marine resources, fisheries conservation, and the importance of protecting coastal ecosystems, while fostering environmental responsibility at an early age.
The outreach also featured a gift-giving activity that brought joy to the children and helped strengthen community ties within the coastal barangay.
Among the items distributed were educational materials, snack kits, rice, vegetable seeds, hygiene kits, and shirts, provided by partner agencies including BFAR–Region 1, the GCG R1, Inc., Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC), the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 1 (DA-RFO1), Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office 1 (PSA-RSSO1) , and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas-San Fernando City La Union Branch (BSP-SFLU).

In a bid to enhance collaboration and professional growth among government information officers in the Ilocos Region, the Government Communicators Guild of Region 1, Inc. (GCG R1, Inc.) held its first general assembly on November 21 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) San Fernando City Branch.
Guided by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 1 as its adviser, the GCG R1, Inc. serves as the official network for government information officers in Region 1, promoting professional growth, inter-agency coordination, and the sharing of best practices in public information dissemination.

LOOK | More than 100 government information officers from across the Ilocos Region are participating in a training workshop from September 17 to 19, 2025, at the Venus Parkview Hotel in Baguio City.
Led by the Philippine Information Agency in partnership with the Government Communications Guild of Region 1, Inc. (GCG R1, Inc.), the program carries the theme “GEAR UP. CHANGE. GROW.: The GCG R1, Inc. Training Series.”
This year's event, titled “2025 LEG: Empowering Government Communication—Mastering Media and Information Literacy for Strategic Social Media Management,” equips communicators with crucial skills for navigating the modern media landscape.
A key session on Day 1 is “Media and Information Literacy: How to Spot Fake News on Social Media?” PIA La Union Government Information Center Manager Chester Carlo Trinidad leads the session, which aims to strengthen participants' media literacy. It empowers them to combat disinformation, maintain credible public messaging, and contribute to building a well-informed and digitally resilient public.

ICYMI: Officers of the Government Communicators Guild of Region 1, Inc. (GCG R1, Inc.) convene recently at the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Regional Office 1 in San Fernando City, La Union to discuss and finalize their programs for the year.
