CASCOLAN PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE HEROES OF BATTLE OF PULANG LUPA IN MARINDUQUE

Philippine National Police Chief, Police General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan paid tribute to the heroes of the historic Battle of Pulang Lupa - an exceptional testimony of heroism of Filipinos during the American colonial era.

The PNP Chief visited today, September 13, the Province of Marinduque to join local officials in commemorating 120th anniversary of the Battle of Pulang Lupa in Torrijos town as the Guest of Honor and Speaker along with newly-installed PRO 4B Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Pascual Muñoz Jr.

Cascolan delivered his remarks before local government officials, educators, families and descendants of heroes of the Pulang Lupa, and people of Torrijos to promote ongoing programs and initiatives under the PNP Sustainable Development Plan through 9-point action plan and 3-point strategy.

In his remarks to the celebration, Cascolan paid homage to the heroes of Pulang Lupa who fought against American colonizers on September 13, 1900 wherein Filipino forces led by Colonel Maximo Abad defeated the American Force.

"They offered their lives selflessly; they offered their lives for freedom; they offered their lives for the security of the majority and most of all they sacrificed for the sake of our country," he said.

He added that the modern Filipino people are proud inheritors of the precious legacy of freedom and independence. "We must show our commitment to defend our sovereignty and our democratic system at all costs," he pointed out.

The PNP Chief vowed for a continuous and sustainable development plan thru his 9-point action plan and 3-point strategy based on the directives of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Meanwhile, Cascolan also sent a firm message to the men of women of Marinduque PNP: Sa dalawang buwan na aking panunungkulan, sisiguraduhin ko na mas makilala pa ang kapulisan bilang PULIS na RESPONSABLE, RESPETADO at DISIPLINADO.

He also appealed to PRO MIMAROPA to reaffirm professional commitment to uphold law and order to attain lasting peace and progress against crime and illegal drugs.

"We are building a real and lasting transformation program that responds to the over-all needs of our fellowmen to attain our vision of a better place to live, work and do business," Cascolan said.

Cascolan also emphasized the importance of performing duties with loyalty, dedication and pride as the PNP stands with the national government and Filipino people in building a nation enshrined with freedom and democracy.

He also bared community-based programs that will help the national government to mitigate the wrath of COVID-19 pandemic thru Barangay COVID Defense (BaCoD) and Retooled Community Programs.

"Sama sama nating pagtatagumpayan ang laban na ito. Together, we Fight as One," he concluded.
