SIBUL, at the beginning was covered with thick forest, inhabited by Aetas. It was a good hunting ground. There were many caves which served as shelters for animals and people.
Many hunters found the forest around the caves good hunting grounds. The coming of strangers drove the natives of the village farther into the forest, leaving the place around the springs uninhabited.
One day, hungry and tired, a hunter from neighboring village named Anastacio Pengson, came to the forest to hunt. He came upon the spring and drank of the clear water. Feeling refreshed, he looked around and was attracted by the natural beauty of the place. Later, he began clearing the spaces surroundings the springs and soon brought his family to live there. In those days the first settlers cleared as much lands as they wanted to and continuously occupied it. They then became the rightful owners of the land they cleared. Since Anastacio Pengson was the first settler, so he owned practically all clearings around the springs which could still be traced to his family descendants.
Since then, more settlers came to the village. Soon the village prospered, making the clearing wider and wider beyond the main spring (There is a main spring and several minor ones; hence, the name SIBUL SPRINGS, which is always full to the brim with sparkling water and giving them good health.
