Known scientifically as ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ช๐ถ๐ฎ ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ญ๐ฆ, the ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐ข tree is a towering evergreen that bears large, poisonous fruits โ but with careful preparation, it becomes a rare and treasured local delicacy.
Every part of the tree contains ๐๐ฒ๐๐ง๐จ๐ ๐๐ง๐ข๐ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ฌ, a toxin that can be fatal if not properly processed. Some locals prefer to eat it only when fully ripe, as consuming it unripe may cause dizziness or a drunk-like sensation.
Beyond its role in traditional dishes, Pangi oil has many uses โ from cooking and lighting to potential biofuel production. Its crushed seeds and leaves are also known for their antiseptic and fish-stunning properties.
Truly, the Pangi is a fascinating reminder that natureโs gifts must be handled with knowledge, care, and respect.
