Mga LGU sa Western Visayas nga may maayo nga solid waste management, ginpasidunggan

Ginpasidunggan sang DENR-EMB-6 ang mga local government unit sa Western Visayas sa ginhiwat nga SWM kag EPR Summit.

Ang mga pagkilala may kaangtanan sa ila programa sa maayo nga pagdumala sang basura ukon solid waste management—lakip na diri ang pagsumite sang ila Solid Waste Management-Self-Compliance Monitoring and Auditing Report (SWM-SCMAR) sa tuig 2024-2025; kag madinalag-on nga pagpauntat sang mga iligal nga pagtambak sang basura, paghaboy sang basura sa mga Sanitary Landfill Facility (SLF).

Lakip sa mga nakabaton sang pagkilala ang pito ka munisipalidad sa Aklan partikular ang Buruanga, Nabas, Tangalan, Banga, New Washington, Numancia, kag Ibajay. Samtang siyam naman ka banwa sa Antique—ang Anini-y, Caluya, Hamtic, Patnongon, San Remigio, Sebaste, Sibalom, Libertad, kag Tobias Fornier. Siyam man sa Capiz—Dao, Jamindan, Sigma, Panit-an, Tapaz, Panay, Dumarao, Cuartero, kag Ivisan; lima ka munisipalidad sa Guimaras partikular ang Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, kag Sibunag; kag 20 ka LGU naman sa Iloilo—ang mga banwa sang Ajuy, Alimodian, Barotac Nuevo, Concepcion, Calinog, Di**le, Duenas, Dumangas, Iloilo City, Janiuay, Lambunao, Leganes, Lemery, Mina, Passi City, San Enrique, Santa Barbara, San Miguel, Tigbauan, kag Tubungan.

Ginkilala man sang EMB-6 ang mga industriya kag institusyon para sa ila kontribusyon sa pagdumala sang basura, kaangay sang Tetra Pak Philippines, Justine's Recycling Inc., Subay Marketing Inc., Angelina Bakeshop, MCR Agriventure Corporation kag BEST, Inc.

Thank you DENR Western Visayas – Region VI.

Last June 30, 2026, during the culmination of Environment Month in Passi City, Iloilo, the LGU San Remigio, through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), received the Gawad Kaagapay ng Kalikasan Award from DENR Western Visayas – Region VI, recognizing the municipality’s continuing efforts and contributions to the protection, conservation, and sustainable management of our environment and natural resources.

We also receive this recognition with gratitude and share it with everyone who has worked alongside us—our communities, barangays, partner agencies, organizations, and individuals who continue to stand with us in caring for our environment.

More than an award, this affirms that even with limited resources, meaningful environmental work can be accomplished through commitment, partnerships, and persistence.

But environmental work is never truly finished. As long as there are gaps in environmental awareness, limited capacity to translate conservation into action, and continued non-compliance with environmental laws, the work continues—and the cycle of education, engagement, enforcement, protection, and restoration begins again.

May this recognition strengthen our resolve to keep protecting what sustains us—our forests, watersheds, biodiversity, and communities—for the generations that will come after us.

Congratulations to our hardworking MENRO–LGU San Remigio team and to LGU San Remigio!

Thank you, DENR–Environmental Management Bureau Region VI, for recognizing LGU San Remigio as one of the champions in waste management for its continuing efforts toward the sustainable implementation of RA 9003, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.

This recognition means a great deal to the MENRO team because behind it is a story of people doing their best despite limited capacities. Yet the work continues because we know that proper waste management is not optional—it is a basic responsibility of the local government to its people and to the environment.

We receive this recognition with gratitude, but also as a reminder that there is still much more work to be done.

May this recognition inspire us not only to celebrate what we have achieved, but to strengthen our collective commitment to do even better for San Remigio and for the environment.
