Kudos to Barangay Maragubdub and the Barangay Council for taking a big step toward a cleaner and greener San Remigio by improving their Materials Recovery Facility (MRF)!
This initiative shows that real change begins at the barangay level — where communities take responsibility for managing their waste, protecting their environment, and setting an example for others to follow.
When every barangay does its part, we move closer to a San Remigio that truly embodies our LOHAS vision — a premier Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability destination in the Visayas.
Let’s keep inspiring one another. The road to zero waste starts with one action, one barangay at a time.

𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐋 – The Antique province renews its commitment to forest restoration and protection of endemic species like the Dulungan as the provincial government conducts a Tree Growing Activity for the Dulungan Month Culminating Activity on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Barangay Bulan-Bulan, San Remegio.
Governor Paolo Javier, in full support of the activity, highlighted that protecting the Dulungan and other endemic species in the province is not just an environmental duty but also a responsibility to secure the future of present and upcoming generations.
According to Ma. Vivian Marfil, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer, more than 1,000 seedlings are expected to be planted on Friday. These include native trees that the Dulungan prefers to inhabit.
“More than 1,000 seedlings ang aton itanom, mga tag-as kag bahul ana trunks nga puno paryas ka narra kag iban pa nga native nga gusto gid ka mga Dulungan,” she said.
The culminating activity is done in partnership with various stakeholders in the province from both public and private sectors, who are committed to honoring and protecting the Dulungan (Rhabdotorrhinus waldeni), the province’s official bird.
The activity is done in line with the celebration of Dulungan Month done every August, as declared under Provincial Ordinance No. 2020-208.

It was foggy the whole time and we only managed to hear a few birds
Dulungan Count - The rain was too much. We have to halt the count in some areas but we are ecstatic as our partial results reported a total of 52 Critically Endangered Rufous-headed hornbills (Rhabdotorrhinus waldeni) in the forest of the municipality of Sebaste. This is very promising as we push for the declaration of the Central Panay Mountains as a protected area.
The Synchronized Dulungan (Hornbill) Count is an annual event celebrated in line with the Dulungan Month. It is organized by the Provincial Government of Antique through the Antique Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office in partnership with DENR PENRO Antique, DENR CENRO Culasi, DENR CENRO Belison, PhilInCon, Office of Senator Loren Legarda, Haribon Foundation and PhilBio with the participation of the Northwest Panay Peninsula Protected Landscape, Sibalom Natural Park, University of Antique, Aklan Mountaineers, municipalities of Barbaza, Bugasong, Culasi, Laua-an, Libertad, Patnongon, San Remigio, Sibalom, Tibiao, Laua-an, Sebaste, and Valderama.
