Heavenly Father,

we pray for the Philippines as communities prepare for possible extreme heat, dry spells, and drought. Please provide enough water, protect farmers and their crops, and give wisdom to our leaders in making the right preparations. Keep every family safe from heat-related sickness, strengthen vulnerable communities, and help us use our resources wisely. May You watch over our nation through the coming months and give us calm hearts, wisdom, and readiness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: 𝗣𝗜𝗣𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗛𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 – OLD SAN VICENTE WATER SYSTEM

Approximately 1000meters more or less of 4-inch PVC pipeline, 2-inch and 1 1/4-inch PE Pipeline was on-going installation by LWMO Plumbers & Personnel's along the sitios of Zone-4 and Zone-6 of Brgy.San Vicente Libon, Albay as part of the LGU-Libon Libon Forward continuing program to improve its water distribution system and strengthen its pipeline network amid the projected El Niño conditions.

The program includes replacement of currently clogged and aging distribution pipe line by a new distribution line, allowing the old line to eventually be taken out of service, reducing water losses, and supporting a more sustainable water supply.

As of October 02, 2026, the works is approximately at its completion by the help and bayanihan of the concerned barangay council of San Vicente , pending the restoration of the excavated trenches. The rehabilitation brings another improvement to LWMO pipeline system and contributes to the LGU Libon continuing water resilience efforts.

PRESS RELEASE
DOST-PAGASA S&T Media Services
Quezon City, 23 September 2026

DOST-PAGASA warns of an intensifying Very Strong El Niño through the first half of 2027.

A Strong El Niño is currently active in the Tropical Pacific and is expected to intensify into a Very Strong El Niño between September–December 2026, potentially persisting through the first half of 2027.

For the Philippines, this may bring warmer temperatures and below-normal rainfall, increasing the risk of dry spells, drought, and water supply stress that could affect agriculture, food security, energy, public health, and the economy.

However, El Niño does not mean that rain will completely stop. The ongoing Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and active tropical cyclones may still bring short-term heavy rainfall, particularly over the western sections of the country.

Prepare for prolonged dryness, but remain vigilant for episodes of heavy rainfall.
