In a decisive effort to address environmental waste and bolster food security, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO)- Santo Tomas, in collaboration with the Office of the Mayor headed by LCE Roland S. Dejesica, has introduced the โMay Bugas sa Trashโ Initiative โ a buy-back program aimed at promoting proper waste segregation and recycling within local communities.
The creative initiative, known as "Thereโs Rice in Trash," presents a distinctive barter system: community members can deliver sorted recyclable items like plastic bottles to receive 3 kgs of rice. This approach encourages community members to engage in waste management while also tackling food shortages in low-income families.
