The University of Antique (UA) strengthened its efforts to expand international research collaboration through an initial coordination meeting with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, held via Zoom on October 28, 2026.
Led by the Integrated Research Centers (IRC), Technology Transfer and Patent Unit (TTPU), Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation (VPREI), and International Affairs Unit (IAFF), the meeting explored potential partnerships in research, technology transfer, capacity building, and academic internationalization.
Discussions covered collaboration opportunities in agriculture, food processing, dairy, bamboo, pottery, rice and grains, fisheries, marine resources, seaweeds, and value-added products. These partnerships are expected to support the development of UA’s ten multidisciplinary research centers and strengthen their contributions to research, innovation, technology utilization, and commercialization.
The proposed collaboration will also provide UA researchers and faculty members opportunities for research immersion, laboratory training, and technical benchmarking through engagement with UGM’s specialized research centers and experts. Other areas for cooperation include faculty engagement, collaborative classes, academic exchanges, intellectual property management, patent development, technology readiness assessment, science and technology park management, and startup incubation.
Moving forward, the two institutions will identify suitable research areas and facilities for collaboration, facilitate coordination among researchers and faculty members, and continue processing the institutional Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize their partnership.
