17 MARCH 2024- Day 4 of Phase 3 case-based scenario

Building partnerships with Local Government Units (LGUs) and other bureaus is essential to the effective operation of our jail facility, as we experienced personally. Working together with LGUs provides access to valuable local services and resources, like social welfare and healthcare initiatives, which are essential for addressing the different needs of PDLs under our control. Additionally, secure collaboration with government agencies like social welfare and law enforcement enhances our communication skills.

Malvar City Jail facility collaborated with the Gabriela fire station to provide a lecture on fire prevention month as well as fire exercises in case of a fire in the jail. They also taught the PDL how to use the fire extinguisher. This is very important since that the PDL may also aide in case of fire. Further, a fire drill was initiated in order to access the capability of the jail facility in case a fire will break out. We had also collaborated with Bonifacio City Police Station with the joint greyhound operation inside Malvar City Jail facility, the operation aims to prevent contraband inside the jail facility and to ensure the safety and secuirty of PDLs.

16 MARCH 2024- Day 3 of Phase 3 Case-based scenario

Under the supervision of JSINP ARNEL ANCHALES, Malvar City Jail undertook an in-depth inspection that covered every area of the facility, including its designations and layout, as well as its resources for PDL’s Livelihood projects and the Alternative Learning System. By highlighting areas for improvement, the inspection proved the facility's dedication to promote safety and rehabilitation and offering an appealing environment for personnel and PDL.

The significance of quick addressing and implementing improvements based on the inspection findings was emphasized during a debriefing session that followed the inspection. In addition to supporting the professional and personal growth of jail officers, this strategy improves the overall efficacy and integrity of the jail facility, guaranteeing standards are upheld and ongoing improvement occurs.

15 MARCH 2024- Day 2 of Phase 3 Case-Based Scenario

The LAYAG-DIWA Class of 2024 Jail Cadets set the standard for themselves. As a future public safety officer, I learn the value of cleanliness and polite behavior among jail cadets since they immediately reflect the integrity required for official tasks. It is imperative that I present myself appropriately and wear the authorized clothes, particularly while the designated warden is conducting inspections. The institution is disciplined as a result of its emphasis on professionalism.

In addition, I see the need for considering the jail as a second home. This include keeping areas like the backyard and the inside organized as well. I contribute to keeping the organization orderly and secure for both employees and PDL’s by taking care of its cleanliness. I am responsible for of making sure the facility operates effectively while preserving decorum and order as a public safety officer.

14 MARCH 2024- The Cadet Attachment Program's third phase commenced with an emphasis on case-based scenarios. Under the direction of J/CDT Ramil Torres, who was assuming the role of Warden, twelve (12) jail cadets were assigned to imitate the operations of Malvar City Jail. The morning began with tasks of cleaning and organizing to improve productivity in the assigned areas. Task ex*****on went better when tasks were clearly assigned.

The cadets gained an understanding of the need of cleanliness and order in maintaining of a working jail facility through this exercise. By taking part in the simulation, they were able to put their theoretical knowledge to use in real-world settings, which improved their comprehension of jail operations and equipped them for circumstances they would encounter in the real world when they become law enforcement personnel in the future.

29 FEBRUARY 2024- OFFICE FUNTIONS/ JAIL OPEARATIONS FUNCTION

One of the jail operations function is the welfare and development duties and responsibilities that makes every jail functions well. An essential first step toward rehabilitating and reintegrating into society is the implementation of welfare development programs for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) under the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). Through the opportunity to learn new skills and make money, livelihood programs help PDLs become independent and self-sufficient upon their reintegration back into society. Programs for education, such the Alternative Learning System (ALS), provide PDLs with skills and information that improve their employability and promote personal development. In addition, sports and leisure activities help PDLs develop self-control, cooperation, and conflict resolution skills in addition to improving their physical health. Participating in these kinds of activities encourages a sense of solidarity and lessens stress and anxiety in jails. Welfare development activities are essential for promoting personal development, social reintegration, and rehabilitation inside the BJMP for PDL. Through the provision of educational, skill-building, recreational, and spiritual guiding opportunities, these efforts enable PDLs to live fulfilling lives outside of jail.

28 FEBRUARY 2024- COURTESY CALL TO BJMP COMMAND GROUP AT BUREAU OF JAIL MANAGEMENT AND PENOLOGY, NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS (BJMP-NHQ)

We had an unforgettable experience as jail cadets when we attended a courtesy call to the BJMP Command Group and Directorates at the National Headquarters. They shared with us important knowledge and understanding that is essential to our cadet career and as future officers. The most important point they emphasized was the significance of continuing education and fulfilling required trainings. They emphasized how lifelong learning gives us the abilities and information needed to succeed in our career as Jail Officers.

The command group also emphasized the value of picking the brains of senior citizens. They underlined the importance of mentorship and advice in helping us overcome obstacles that may arise in our training and careers. They also emphasized how crucial strategic planning is to accomplishing our objectives.

27 FEBRUARY 2024- Observance of Therapuetic Community Modality Program(TCMP) of Persons Deprived of Liberty at Naic Municipal Jail.

TCMP aims to promote in jail facilities a culture of accountability. TCMP develops a supportive environment where PDLs may learn from one another, hold one another accountable, and work toward shared objectives by putting an emphasis on the values of accountability, mutual support, and personal development. In addition to improving the overall environment of the jail, this sense of unity and shared purpose makes PDLs feel more connected to one another and less likely to engage in violent or disruptive activities such as gang involvement. TCMP is essential because it provides an opportunity toward rehabilitation, development, and an easy integration back into society. Through offering educational opportunities, addressing fundamental reasons, decreasing recidivism, and cultivating a positive institutional culture, the TCMP enables people to escape the cycle of criminal activity and build better futures for both themselves and their communities.
