πŸ’‚πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ’‚πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ‡΅πŸ‡Meet the Regimental Officers of the LAYAG-DIWA Class of 2024!

In a world of rigorous training and a regimented way of living, a group of men and women stands tall and sheds light upon the long maroon line. From Mount Olympus, they are the overseer of the whole Cadet Corps – scrutinizing cadets’ actuations, facilitating cadet activities, and leading the Cadet Corps with heart and passion.

They are the very definition of being an upperclassman: the strength of the bull, the roaring voice of a lion, the fury of the tiger, the cruelty of the beast, and the penetrating stare of an eagle. All of these are just mere roles they have to play in order to guide the Cadet Corps to its rightful path. But in reality, they are good brothers, a best friend, and a refined individual who will soon become an officer and a gentleman.

As they approach the conclusion of their cadetship journey, these young leaders are ready and fully-equipped to descend from the Olympus and serve as public safety officers, reverberating the qualities worthy of an Iskolar Para sa Bayan.

The Incident Command System (ICS) allows for the establishment of a Unified Command structure during the events of disasters and emergencies, where representatives from different agencies such that of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, and all other concerned agencies come together to coordinate response efforts. This coordination ensures a collaborative approach to incident management. Today, the graduating class of Layag-Diwa conducted an ICS as a part of their Case-Based Scenario. Here, the five different police stations, together with the stations of the BFP and BJMP Cadets, were assigned to different taskings in the conduct of the said activity. With their collaborative efforts, they were able to establish an ICS Command Post and all other deployments were made to achieve the success of the activity.

On the 20th of March, 2024, PCOL MARIA SHEILA T PORTENTO, Provincial Director, conducted visitation at Bonifacio City Police Station. As the Provincial Director, part of her duties include overseeing law enforcement activities within the police stations in the province, including crime prevention, investigation, and apprehension of suspects. Likewise, she oversees the implementation of strategies to maintain peace and order and ensure public safety. Soon, we shall be assigned to different units under the command of higher authorities. And as junior officers, we must see to it that our service adheres to the directives of the said authorities.

Today, likewise, the Bonifacio City Police Station is at Full Alert Status due to the NPA Anniversary & SUMVAC 2024. During this large-scale event, the police station is placed on full alert to be able to manage and prevent disturbances, and even to respond to any potential security incidents arising throughout the event. As a directive from the Provincial Police Office, we conducted personnel accounting every two hours and deployed men to conduct checkpoints, and other assignments and taskings given by our Chief of Police.

Turnover of Command is a momentous occasion in the law enforcement organization. Today, the Bonifacio City Police Station had its ceremony of which both the Outgoing Chief of Police, PLTCOL Ayman M Dia, and Incoming Chief of Police, PLTCOL Aidan Khan P Fabricante, along with the station’s respective staff, engaged in the detailed preparation that ensured a smooth transition. Here, former COP was given recognition and expressions of gratitude for his service and contributions. At the same time, the newly assigned COP was warmly welcomed by the station, and even by the City Mayor. Lastly, there was also the symbolic passing of a unit flag that signifies the transfer of authority.

Here, we learned the skill of being an organizer. As future public safety officers, we shall be experiencing a lot of ceremonies like this. Throughout our service, we shall serve as the organizers and even key persons being provided with this ceremony. It is a must that we familiarize ourselves with the flow of the program and what are the do’s and dont’s in conducting so. So that when the time comes, we shall then be able to organize well these ceremonies for those who are next in line.
