Yesterday, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Sulat-LGU successfully conducted the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and patrol gear to our dedicated Tanod ng Kalikasan.

This initiative aims to boost their operational efficiency while ensuring they remain safe and well-protected in the line of duty. Patrolling our forests, coastal areas, and natural habitats is no ordinary task—it comes with real risks, yet 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝗻𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. This milestone would not have been possible without the 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗯𝘁𝗶𝗸 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗭𝗮𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 . His steadfast support demonstrates the administration’s serious commitment to environmental protection, sustainability, and responsible resource management for both today’s community and future generations.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Sangguniang Bayan, led by our supportive Vice Mayor, Hon. Dionesio L. Evardone III, along with all the SB Members, for championing environmental preservation and backing initiatives that uplift our frontline workers.

Together, we continue to build a greener, safer, and more sustainable community! 🇵🇭🌳

SULAT, EASTERN SAMAR — The Local Government Unit of Sulat, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Javier E. Zacate, continues to deliver vital assistance to Sulatnon families through the second wave of Rice for Every Home, the provision of multivitamins to all families, and nutritional supplements for children aged 0–5 years old, which began on August 26, 2026.

Implemented through the LGSF–Growth Equity Fund (LGSF-GEF FY 2025) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., these initiatives aim to strengthen food security, support household nutrition, and address the nutritional needs of young children.
The rice distribution has reached 2,653 families in nine barangays during the first two days.

Distribution to the remaining barangays will continue next week, with the overall distribution targeted for completion by the first week of September 2026.

The Local Government Unit of Sulat continued the Finalization Workshop on the Establishment and Crafting of the Local Economic Enterprise Framework and Ordinance, with Day 2 discussions focusing on land-use considerations, potential investments, business planning, and the financial viability of proposed local economic enterprises.

The deliberations examined how appropriate land-use planning can support and accommodate potential investments while ensuring that proposed developments are consistent with the municipality’s development priorities and long-term growth.

The workshop also delved into the business plans and financial aspects of the proposed local economic enterprises, including projected costs, revenues, operating requirements, and their overall sustainability. These considerations are essential in determining whether proposed enterprises can become viable sources of local revenue while continuing to provide accessible and responsive public services.

Meanwhile, Mayor Javier Evardone Zacate shared that initial discussions are already underway with potential investors who are exploring opportunities in Sulat. These investments could provide employment opportunities for Sulatnons, while contributing to the municipality’s economic activity and development.

As the LGU moves closer to finalizing the framework and ordinance, the discussions continue to focus on building a sound foundation for sustainable enterprises, responsible investments, increased local economic activity, and meaningful opportunities for the people of Sulat.

LOOK: LGU officials and functionaries convene for the Finalization Workshop on the Establishment/Crafting of the Local Economic Enterprise Framework and Ordinance to refine policies that will guide the sustainable management of the Municipality’s Local Economic Enterprises.

The workshop focused on the refinement of the proposed Local Economic Enterprise Framework and Ordinance, including discussions on the possible tariff structures for the Municipal Water System, Public Market, and other proposed local economic enterprises.

During the deliberations, Mayor Javier Evardone Zacate emphasized that while the proposed Local Economic Enterprises are intended to generate additional revenue for the municipality, their foremost purpose remains the delivery of quality, accessible, and responsive public service.

Zacate underscored that revenue generation should never come at the expense of the welfare of Sulatnons, and that the proposed tariff structures must remain fair, reasonable, and reflective of the municipality’s commitment to serving the public interest.

These initiatives aim to ensure sustainable operations, responsible fiscal management, and improved delivery of essential public services for the people of Sulat.
