𝐏𝐆𝐒𝐃𝐍 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔!

The Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte celebrated Employees Day 2026 on September 30 at the Provincial Convention Center, Surigao City, as part of the nationwide observance of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary. Guided by the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan,” the activity recognized the dedication, loyalty, and years of service of provincial employees who keep government programs and services moving for the people.

A highlight of the celebration was the awarding of plaques and medals to retirees from the 1st to 3rd quarters of 2026. The program also conferred Certificates of Recognition and cash incentives to Loyalty Awardees and Milestone Awardees for the 3rd quarter of 2026.

Employees further expressed their solidarity through the Lingkod Bayani Commitment Wall, where Gov. Lyndon Barbers, Vice Governor Geed Gokiangkee, Hon. Board Member Goldwin Pegarro, PGSDN Department Heads and employees personally signed to affirm their pledge to service excellence, integrity, and accountability.

Following Part I of the program, PGSDN rolled out Part II: Free Services to All Employees. In coordination with the Surigao del Norte Provincial Hospital, employees availed of free medical and dental consultations, while PhilHealth staff assisted with YAKAP registration for access to primary care services. Additional services included reflexology and massage by the San Pedro Calungsod Reflexologist, hairdressing services in partnership with Rainbow Connection and SURFF, Kadiwa sa Kapitolyo in collaboration with the Provincial Agriculture Office, and free rabies vaccination, castration, and veterinary consultations for dogs and cats through the Provincial Veterinary Office.

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) conducted an orientation on its Yaman ng Kalusugan (YAKAP) outpatient benefit package at the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte on July 30, 2026. Resource speaker Social Insurance Assistant II Glaris Mae C. Suante led the session, which was attended by Administrative Officers from various provincial departments.

During the orientation, Suante underscored that the YAKAP package is particularly beneficial for government employees, as it provides coverage for routine medical check-ups, monitoring of chronic conditions, and early disease screening. She strongly encouraged all employees to actively enroll in and utilize the program.

The 𝐘𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐏 program, an enhanced and expanded version of PhilHealth's primary care benefits, aims to bring essential healthcare services closer to all Filipinos, including free consultations, laboratory tests, cancer screenings, and access to medicines.

Surigao del Norte Governor Robert Lyndon S. Barbers has once again brought pride to the province after earning two prestigious recognitions that underscore his strong leadership and consistent dedication to the Surigaonons.

The first recognition placed Gov. Barbers at 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝟏 in the regional rankings, after achieving an outstanding 82.2% Index of Governance, supported by an 81.8% trust rating and an 82.6% performance rating in the latest RPMD Foundation Inc. Boses ng Bayan Index of Governance (IOG) Survey announced last June 30, 2026.

Gov. also earned another distinction after it was just announced yesterday, July 20, 2026, placing him at 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝟒 in the national cluster among the Top-Performing and Most Trusted Provincial Governors for the first quarter of 2026. In this survey, Gov. Barbers achieved an 82.86% Index of Governance, 82.58% trust rating, and 83.15% performance rating.
