𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗬 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗙𝗣 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗚𝗔’𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗠𝗔𝗦 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗟 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 | 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗙𝗣-𝗦𝗗𝗡 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹 ​Delving beyond the mere aesthetics, the BFP-SDN Parol symbolizes more than meets the eye. The Malta Cross of the Bureau of Fire Protection represents protection, honor, courage, and sacrifice, signifying that fire-fighters in the Province of Surigao del Norte are willing to lay down their lives in service for the people. ​The symbol is accentuated with the different harvest of the province that represents each and every Surigaonons in the northern part of the region. The corn kernel and corn cob, bamboo sticks, coconut crown and shell, abaca fabric and rope, native buri fan, nito centrepiece and the beautiful seashells are put together to create an image of a sunflower that reflects and symbolize happiness and positivity, loyalty and adoration, strength and resilience, hope and longevity, and good luck and prosperity. ​The Surf board was made from plastic bottle caps. Just like a board that dances in every wave, it depicts the many catastrophes that had tried to shake and upsurge the province--- from Yolanda to Odette to the shakings of the earth. These storms and earthquakes robbed Surigaonons of their homes and loved ones but these disasters sustained our ability to rise above difficulties and measured our ability to smile despite the tragedies that tested our strength and faith. ​In the face of many challenges, the people remained steadfast, working hand-in-hand, knowing that in every sway of trials we will sail as one, setting our anchor to Jesus, our Polaris, the bright star that lights the darkest moments of our lives, to give us hope and a promise of a better and brighter tomorrow. ​Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, the light of the world, is the perfect inspiration in creating this beautiful master piece of unity, hope, love, faith and salvation.
