The Department of Trade and Industry-Surigao del Norte through its Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) successfully conducted the training activity titled โDigital CARPreneurs: E-Viral, E-Publish, and E-Launch Your Way to Better Profits (Batch 2)โ on April 21, 2026, at the DTI Surigao del Norte Provincial Office in Surigao City. The initiative was participated in by members of the Cantapoy Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative, Rural Improvement Club Producers Cooperative, Mabini United Farmers Cooperative, and Tinago Eagles Fisherfolks & Farmers Producers Cooperative. It was also held in a hybrid setup to accommodate participants unable to attend in person, including members of the Garcia Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative, Panatao Multipurpose Cooperative, and Negosyo Center Business Counselors, thereby ensuring wider participation and inclusivity.
The training aimed to strengthen the digital marketing capabilities of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs). It equipped participants with practical knowledge on content creation, digital branding, and online selling strategies through the E-Viral, E-Publish, and E-Launch modules. Discussions emphasized storytelling for effective online engagement, establishing a strong digital presence, and utilizing e-commerce platforms and digital payment systems to expand market opportunities.
The resource person for the training, Ms. Tricia Marie C. Saldo, NC Senior Business Counselor of Negosyo Center Gigaquit, provided practical insights and guided participants in applying digital tools and strategies to enhance the participantsโ enterprise visibility and competitiveness.
A key highlight of the activity was the demonstration of artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini, which were used to assist participants in creating promotional materials using their own product photos. This provided hands-on exposure to accessible and innovative digital marketing tools. In addition, participants engaged in short video content creation for product promotion, where they were grouped and tasked to produce creative video outputs that were later presented during the session.

Skills Enhancement Training on Organic Fertilizer Production for San Isidro Multipurpose Cooperative
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Surigao del Norte through its Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), in coordination with partner agencies, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), successfully conducted a Skills Enhancement Training on Organic Fertilizer Production for members of the San Isidro Multipurpose Cooperative (SIMPUCO) in Brgy. San Isidro, Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte on March 19, 2026. This initiative forms part of the DAR-VLFED Project and supports the ongoing implementation of the DAR-DTI-DOST Synchronized Plan.
SIMPUCO has already taken steps in producing organic fertilizer using available agricultural by-products such as rice hulls, rice bran, poultry manure, and coconut husks. However, challenges in product quality, consistency, and the limited number of trained members highlighted the need for targeted capacity-building interventions.
Through this training, participants were provided with technical guidance on proper composting techniques, from collection and segregation of materials, shredding, mixing, and composting, to curing and packaging, ensuring improved processes and better-quality outputs.
More importantly, organic fertilizer production presents a strategic opportunity to strengthen and complement the cooperativeโs existing enterprises. With an operational rice mill, a 1,000-head poultry farm, and a strong network of coconut and rice farmers, SIMPUCO generates substantial volumes of agricultural by-products and organic residues. Instead of going to waste, these materials can be transformed into valuable organic fertilizer inputs, creating a more sustainable, cost-efficient, and circular farming system that benefits all members.
Participants gained insights on quality control, efficient resource utilization, and improved enterprise practices. These learnings aim to enhance product standards, increase market readiness, and expand participation among cooperative members.
With strengthened skills and a clearer direction, SIMPUCO is now better positioned to improve its organic fertilizer production, maximize its resources, and support sustainable agricultural development in the community.
The session was facilitated by Ana Aishena B. Lakag, PCA-SDN staff, who served as the resource person, sharing her expertise in organic fertilizer production and quality management.
