A 90-year-old heritage structure, the building was constructed in 1936 as a three-story reinforced concrete edifice that served as the โnucleusโ of the growing San Nicolas School in Surigao. The construction itself was an ornament for Surigao, being the first building entirely made of reinforced concrete and the first to rise to have three floors.
The Little Flower Dormitory building, as we know it now, was a pivotal structure in the early development of San Nicolas School. It was built to be the center of the institution. It housed the first private-run high school program when it opened in 1938.
During World War II, the building was damaged by incendiary bombs, leaving only a "burned-out skeleton". Following the 1945 liberation, classes initially resumed in temporary Quonset huts and rehabilitated portions of the dormitory.
The building remained a significant part of the campus and underwent renovation as part of infrastructure improvements after the war and in the early 2000s. The building was used for different purposes over the years; it opened for several classrooms, offices, and the quarters of the St. Paul of Chartres Sisters, in addition to being used as a dormitory. Since its inception, it has continually served as the SPC sisters' congregation residence in Surigao up until the present.
The dormitory was damaged during the Super Typhoon Odette in December 2021, and the occupants were transferred to make way for its repairs and decided to transfer the dormitory permanently to another building. It survived a world war, several typhoons, earthquakes, and other natural agents of deterioration given by time. It no longer houses a dormitory, but it continues to provide a home to an institution created to form Christ-centered and competent individuals in service to the Church and society. As the historic "nucleus" of the campus, it remains a symbol of an institution dedicated to being a Catholic school and a school tuned to the evolving needs of the Surigao community.

Happy Birthday Sr. Maria Lirio Gavan! ๐๐๐๐
Today, the Paulinian community gathers in heartfelt gratitude to celebrate a leader whose life is as radiant and graceful as her name.
Sister Lirio, like the lily for which you are named, you grace our halls with a quiet strength and a purity of heart that inspires us all. In your vital role as our Vice President for Finance, you carry great responsibilities with an extraordinary lightness of spirit. We see how you manage the complexities of your office not only with professional excellence but with a profound sense of generosity that touches every life you encounter.
What we admire most is your selfless, "others-first" heart. You possess that rare and beautiful quality of prioritizing the welfare of everyone else, always seeking to serve without the need for recognition. Yours is a leadership of gentle stewardshipโyou ensure that everything runs seamlessly, always mindful of the comfort of those around you and never wanting to impose your own needs upon others. You lead by example, showing us that the truest form of service is rooted in humility. Your presence is a gift that makes our burdens lighter and our community brighter.
On this special day, we offer our prayers for you. May you be blessed with renewed strength and vibrant health as you continue your faithful journey, and may the peace you so selflessly give to others be returned to you a hundredfold. We pray that your heart remains filled with the abundant joy of knowing how deeply you are loved and appreciated. May the year ahead be a beautiful journey filled with cherished memories and Godโs most tender mercies.
You are a blessing to us all, Sister Lirio. Happy, Happy Birthday!
