Among hangyo sa tanan:
โข Likayi ang pagsunog og basura, uga nga dahon, o sagbot
โข
โข
โข
โข

As we observe this Lenten Season, a time of reflection, sacrifice, and renewal, let us also show our care for the environment through proper solid waste management.
With increased gatherings, travel, and outdoor activities this Holy Week, we encourage everyone to:
โ
Practice waste segregation (biodegradable, recyclable, residual)
โ
Avoid single-use plasticsโbring reusable bags, bottles, and containers
โ
Dispose of waste properly in designated bins
โ
Keep beaches, rivers, roads, and pilgrimage sites clean
โ
Reduce food wasteโtake only what you can consume
Let us remember that caring for our environment is also an act of stewardship and responsibility.
Together, letโs keep our community clean, safe, and meaningful this Lenten Week. ๐

For one hour, let us switch off lights and unplug non-essential devices as a sign of support for environmental conservation.
The City Government of Surigao invites all households, offices, and establishments to take part in this global initiative.
Join Earth Hour, a movement that began in 2007 in Sydney. Observed every year, this activity reminds us of the importance of saving energy and protecting the environment. By switching off lights and unplugging non-essential devices for one hour, communities around the world show their shared commitment to sustainability.

Surigao City joins the nation in celebrating the International Day of Forests (March 21) and World Water Day (March 22).
In line with this, the City Government of Surigao, through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO), conducted a mangrove planting and coastal clean-up activity in Sitio Panubigon, Barangay Lipata. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with students from Surigao del Norte State University, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials of Brgy. Lipata, and the Sama Bajau community of Sitio Panubigon.
This activity highlights the vital role of mangrove forests in protecting coastal ecosystems and communities, while supporting biodiversity and serving as breeding grounds for marine resources. It also strengthens awareness among the Sama Bajau community on the importance of mangrove conservation, empowering them as active stewards in the protection and preservation of their coastal environment.
Together, we continue to promote sustainable practices for a healthier and more resilient Surigao City.

CITY ENRO CONDUCTS 2-DAY SEMINARโWORKSHOP FOR THE UPDATING OF THE 10-YEAR ESWM PLAN (CY 2025โ2034)
The City Government of Surigao, through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO), successfully conducted a 2-day SeminarโWorkshop on the Updating of the 10-Year Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) Plan for CY 2025โ2034 on December 4โ5, 2025 at Jakelou Events and Catering โ Narciso.
We were honored to have as our Resource Speaker, Ms. Dianna Mae Rivera from DENR-EMB Caraga Region, who provided in-depth guidance on the new prescribed format of the ESWM Plan, updated technical requirements, and the integration of RA 9003 into local planning. Her expertise greatly supported the city in strengthening its strategies on waste reduction, segregation, collection systems, composting, and final disposal planning.
Participants included the Technical Working Group (TWG) composed of representatives from various City Government Offices, National Government Agencies, and Civil Society Organizations. The workshop allowed for hands-on data validation, gap analysis, and the completion of prescribed tables per chapter to ensure the Cityโs ESWM Plan remains compliant, data-driven, and responsive to current waste management challenges.
This activity forms part of the City Governmentโs continuing commitment to building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Surigao City through collaborative planning and strengthened environmental governance.
๐ฟ Abante kita Surigao! Together, letโs make a greener future possible.
