Today, November 29, 2024, the SLP Leyte 1 Cluster held a monthly Provincial Cluster Meeting for the month of November 2024 with resource speakers from Land Bank of the Philippines and with the Regional Partnership Officer, Maria Christina L. Manicani.
In order to recognize the efforts of the PDOs, the provincial office staff headed by PC Benjie B. Pelen, organized an awarding ceremony for the Implementing and Monitoring PDOs who immensely contributed to the team’s success by facilitating the pre-implementation and social preparation stages of the Special Referrals CY 2024 implementation accomplishing more than 100% in physical target.
By incorporating awarding and recognition activities like this, employees will more likely increase their productivity, demonstrate good work ethics and foster a positive culture that will drive success in the workplace.

Financial Literacy Training
📍Tolosa, Leyte

Two SLP Associations from Tolosa, Leyte participated in the Financial Literacy Training conducted by the Provincial Capability-Building Officer, Rey Millar together with the Implementing PDOs, Lalaine Servando and Ivan Rosa, with the presence of the Leyte 1 Cluster Provincial Coordinator, Benjie Pelen.
The SLPAs present in the training include the Sitio Rice Sellers SLPA (Rice Retailing) consisting of 19 members with grant amounting to Php285,000.00 and ZH Highside SLPA (Hog Raising) with 18 members and a grant of Php270,000.00.
As part of the program’s objectives, this training is offered to our beneficiaries in order to educate and help them in managing their financial resources wisely, make sound decisions particularly in budgeting, and achieve financial stability in life. They can also apply the principles of financial literacy when they start the daily operations of their proposed livelihood projects.

Awarding of Checks

A total of fifteen (15) Individual Referrals from the Municipality of Jaro, Leyte received their livelihood assistance in a form of Seed Capital Fund (SCF) amounting to Php15,000.00 each from the Sustainable Livelihood Program yesterday, September 10, 2024.
The release of checks was facilitated by the Leyte 1 Cluster Provincial Coordinator, Benjie B. Pelen and Implementing PDO assigned in Jaro, Tiffany Mae Arcena. The activity was also witnessed and participated by the Municipal Administrator of LGU Jaro, Atty. Marlon Baltar and MSWDO Representative, Divine Baquilod.
Through the grant, these program participants will be engaging in different livelihood activities such as food vending, frozen goods selling, fish vending, sari-sari store, rice retailing and many more. With the goal to support their families, they will do as much as they can to sustain and grow their projects even with challenges and obstacles along the way.

AKAP Payout
📍Baybay City
August 23, 2024
The Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) Payout held last August 23, 2024 in Baybay City granted cash assistance in the amount of Php5,000.00 to each program beneficiaries from the city of Baybay and municipalities of Abuyog, Bato, Hindang, Hilongos, Inopacan, Javier, Mahaplag and Matalom, Leyte.
The ceremonial payout was attended by Baybay City Mayor, Jose Carlos L. Cari and the Sangguniang Bayan Members of Baybay. A total of 2,945 out of 3,000 participants who are minimum wage earners and considered near-poor households that belong to the informal sector were granted in order to provide a menu of assistance for goods and services and protect them in the effects of high inflation brought by the present economy.
Through the dedicated efforts of the DSWD payout team which includes SFO Leyte Team supervised by Assistant SWAD Team Leader, Anibelle Espejo and SLP Leyte 1 Cluster PDOs headed by Provincial Coordinator, Benjie Pelen, and through the unwavering support of the LGU-MSWDOs from the participating municipalities, the AKAP Payout hosted in Baybay City was a massive success.

SLP RPMO staff held a coaching session on Usbong Phase Implementation with the Leyte 1 Cluster PDOs in Palo Livelihood Center this day, 20th of August 2024
The SLP Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) staff including the Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (RMEO), Hope Vinegas, Regional Training Officer (RTO), Jamie Belle Evangelista and Systems Data Analyst/Leyte 1 MATA Focal Person, Laarni Grabador-Abalos, initiated a whole-day direct coaching session with the 38 PDOs of Leyte 1 Cluster headed by Provincial Coordinator, Benjie Pelen, to discuss the processes, monitoring tools and activities under Year 2 or Usbong Phase of SLP implementation.
During the activity, the PDOs raised issues on micro-enterprise development (MD) project management, operation and monitoring in order to address the challenges and problems encountered by the SLPAs and individual referrals who are now currently operating their proposed livelihood projects.
This initiative is immensely appreciated by the PDOs especially those who weren’t able to attend during the last Usbong Workshop including the newly designated PMEO, Kenneth Aures, CPDO, Rey Milar and the newly transferred Monitoring PDOs since the program already launched the pilot implementation of the Year 2 or Usbong Phase of the Sustainable Livelihood Program implementation.

The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Leyte 1 Cluster PDOs successfully carried out the first batch of SLP Assembly in Dagami Municipal Gymnasium yesterday with 150 out of 450 Special Referrals target participants assessed to avail the livelihood assistance from the program.
The assembly was witnessed by Mayor Angelita Delusa and OIC-MSWDO Rodrigo Salvatierra of LGU Dagami.
The main purpose of the activity is to orient the participants about the program background, objectives and its selection process which is necessary before engaging and participating in the next stages of program implementation.

The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Leyte 1 Cluster headed by Provincial Coordinator, Benjie B. Pelen together with provincial staff including PMEO Kenneth Aures, CPDO Rey Milar, PPO Aliver Idano and PAA Christian Badidles initiated a Special Meeting to discuss the PDOs’ augmentation on Walang Gutom Program (WGP) as well as the status and updates on the SLP implementation and monitoring. Each provincial officer was able to clearly present their topics related to admin and operations as well as addressed the ongoing issues and concerns of the Implementing and Monitoring PDOs in the field.
Also, the team gladly welcomed their new Monitoring and Technical Assistance (MATA) Focal Person, Laarni Grabador during the meeting. Ms. Grabador oriented the team with the new templates to be used for project proposal-making and also catered the PDOs’ questions for clarification.
The activity was graced by the presence of the Promotive Services Division Chief, Gina D. Ogay who expressed her appreciation for the team’s effort and full support during the Food Stamp Program Redemption Activities. She also stated that her office is widely open if ever the team needs her assistance in matters exceeding the PDOs’ capability.
The Leyte 1 Cluster is really grateful to be surrounded by strong and dedicated leaders who always direct and motivate the team towards demonstrating excellent public service.
