The 1st Naval Company Reserve (1st NCoyR), 523rd Naval Squadron Reserve, Philippine Navy, under the leadership of LCDR GENNA D MABANSAG PN(RES), Commander of the 52nd Naval Group Reserve (NGR), successfully conducted its regular semi-monthly mustering of troops and unit meeting at the 52nd NGR Office, Naval Station Dioscoro Papa (NSDP), San Jose, Tacloban City.
The activity began with the mustering of troops, where reservists were oriented on the importance of proper military bearing and appearance. This included instructions on the correct wearing of uniforms and paraphernalia in accordance with military dress standards. Emphasis was placed on professionalism, discipline, and unit cohesion, which are essential traits expected of every Naval reservist.
As part of the unit’s leadership development initiative, a rotation of platoon leaders among Enlisted Personnel (EPs) was implemented. This system aims to enhance leadership capabilities, decision-making, and confidence among reservists, while they are closely observed and mentored by senior active reservist EPs on the ground.
The activity also served as an opportunity to introduce former inactive reservist EPs to the troops. They were warmly welcomed by the unit as they expressed their intention to return to active reserve status, strengthening the company’s manpower and camaraderie.
During the unit meeting, key discussions included updates on office supplies and equipment, ongoing galley renovation and improvements, the current status of troops under Active Duty Training (ADT), and review of plans, programs, and activities for the upcoming events of Calendar Year 2026.
Furthermore, the company discussed the implementation of an internal localized organizational structure aimed at improving task accomplishment, efficient delegation of responsibilities, and leadership development within the unit.
This regular mustering and meeting reflect the unit’s continued commitment to operational readiness, leadership development, and organizational growth in support of the mission of the Philippine Navy and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
