A successful Day 1 of Brigada Eskwela 2026!

A heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers from various agencies and community members for your overwhelming support and active participation during the first day of Brigada Eskwela.

Taken from the movie Swapped, “We’re stronger together.” In the same spirit, Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Elementary School invites everyone to take part in preparing our school for the opening of classes.

If we all work hand in hand in building a brighter future for our learners, they will have every reason to strive, dream, and succeed.

Pagburublig kita tanan para ha malamrag nga kabubuwason han aton kabataan. 💙

Hands joined across borders. 🌍

The turn-over and unveiling of the RTRES school marker beautifully reminds us that it takes a village to raise a child. Thank you to our Japanese friends, Mieko-san and Toshiya San, our SELG President Minzhei Alyana B. Uy, for this wonderful donation and for showing our students the spirit of cooperation and power of community.

Her story, their inspiration—may our dear graduates carry these lessons as they reach for their dreams.

Thank you, Atty. Salvacion Lycca Teñoso, for sharing your wisdom and inspiring our learners.

“My journey in life has been one of dedication, a continuous cycle of giving back, working for others, and serving those who need me most. It has always been a life of service. And standing here before you today, ladies and gentlemen, is truly an honor to share a few humble lessons in the hope that you, too, may become who you aspire to
be.

My dear pupils, first of all, congratulations. You have completed one of the longest and most important milestones in your educational journey. In this world, there are three essential skills you must carry with you: reading, writing, and counting. Ahead of you lies a long road filled with challenges, opportunities, growth, and even setbacks. But as long as you have mastered these three, you already hold the tools you need for
life. You are equipped. You are capable. You are unstoppable. Because of what you have learned, I have no doubt that you will do well in life. You are going to be just fine. You will make it whatever path you choose to take. Trust in your education. Trust in your teachers. Trust in the strong foundation built here at RTR
Elementary School. And most importantly, trust in yourself. What I will share with you today are just a few simple thoughts: lessons that I hope will guide you as you continue your journey, beyond reading, writing, and counting.

First: The primary indicator of success is grit and vision.

Second: We are unique and equal. Embrace yourself.

Third: Believe in your children.
1. The Primary Indicator of Success is Grit and Vision.
What is grit?
Grit is passion and perseverance for long-term goals. My dear pupils, right now, life may still feel simple and predictable. You wake up, go to
school, study, do your best, go home, watch Netflix, play Roblox, then sleep and repeat it all again the next day.
But I want you to remember this: there will come a time when life will no longer feel that way. There will come a day when you leave your alma mater, step out of the comfort of your home, and move beyond the guidance of your parents. You may find yourself
unsure, asking, Where do I go? What do I want to do? There will be moments when your sense of reality shifts again and again. There will be times when your effort, hard work, merit, and sacrifices seem unseen and unrecognized. And when that time comes, I want you to remember one thing: push forward.
When you fail: push forward.
When you feel disappointed: push forward. When things do not go your way: push forward. And when it feels hardest to move, I want you to pause for a moment. Close your eyes.
Imagine yourself living your dreams: driving your dream car, resting in your dream home, thriving in your dream career. Feel it deeply, as if you have already made it. Feel that joy, that relief, that quiet pride of saying, “I made it. I got through it.” Hold on to that feeling.
Then open your eyes and push forward.
My dear pupils, success is not measured by how much money you have, how intelligent you are, or how many connections you make. True success is measured by your passion and your perseverance. And passion and perseverance are proven in the moments when you choose to keep
going no matter how difficult the path may be.

2. We are unique and equal. Embrace yourself.
“Insist on yourself; never imitate.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
My dear pupils, if there is one thing you should choose to be in this world, choose to be
yourself. God has blessed each of us with unique gifts: no two are ever the same. Some are gifted with beautiful voices, others with sharp minds, quick understanding, compassion, or a deep connection with nature. Whatever your gift may be, embrace it. Do not run away from it. If you dream of becoming a doctor, then strive to be one. If you wish to become a security guard, pursue it with pride. If you choose to be a homemaker, honor that path.
No profession is above another, because every role in society is essential. We need janitors and cleaners who keep our surroundings safe and orderly. We need
construction workers who build the spaces we use every day. We need tricycle and jeepney drivers who help us get where we need to go.
The true essence of life is not to rise above others, but to use our gifts to serve others. We may be different in name, in skills, and in paths but we are equal in our purpose to serve.
I stand before you today as a lawyer because there are people who need protection for their lives and property. Others are called to be doctors, to save lives. Some are called to be farmers, to sustain lives. All of these paths no matter how different are rooted in service.
Whatever it is that God calls you to be, embrace it with dignity, commitment, and above all, love. Ginbabasa ko an iyo mga pangarap—your dreams and aspirations for the future—and I am so proud of each and every one of you. Tanan kamo. You chose not only to dream of success, but to become good and kind people.
I pray to Jesus that as you grow, you will continue to help one another, that you will not take advantage of others, that you will not deceive, that you will not become corrupt. Instead, may you always answer the call to serve, just as God has designed you to be.

3. Believe in your children.
This part of my message is especially for the parents, because a child can only grow as much as the environment allows them to. When I was young, my parents would always tell me to raise my hand in class, every time even if I didn’t know the answer. If I was called and got it wrong, that was okay. If I got it right, then I gained points. So I raised my hand, again and again. I joined everything. Cheerdance, school band, playground demonstrations where I even
became a leader, Girl Scouts, dance contests, journalism, MTAP, quiz bees—lahat ng naimbento, kasali ako. Even during flag ceremonies, I would lead Zumba. Was I the smartest? The most talented? No. Definitely not. But where did I get that confidence? That courage?
From my parents. Whenever I wanted to try something, I would tell them. And never not once did they tell
me, “Hindi mo kaya,” or discourage me for dreaming too big. Instead, they would say: “Anak, makuri ini ngan mahal, pero paningkamot ngan paniguro para makuha mo.”
(“My child, this will be difficult and costly, but work hard and do your best to achieve it.”)
They did not give me false hopes, but they also never limited me. They told me the truth: that life would be hard, that the road would be uphill but they always reminded me that with hard work and perseverance, I could make it.
And because of that, I developed a strong inner voice. Our children need that inner voice: a foundation that will guide their decisions, shape
their self-worth, and help them rise after failure. It is the voice they will rely on when life becomes difficult, when they face rejection, and even when they achieve success. So to the parents, never be a basher to your children.
Kun tim anak gusto magin doktor, bisan kun gutiay la an iyo kinikita, ayaw pagsiring nga “dire kaya.”
Instead, guide them. Tell them the truth that it is expensive, that it will be hard but also show them the way: apply for scholarships, become a working student, practice discipline, and prepare early.
Because when you say “no” without guidance, it feels like the end. It feels like there is no way forward. It feels like rejection. And if that is what they hear again and again at a young age, they may grow up afraid to try, afraid to take opportunities because they are already used to being turned down. Imagine how many doors will remain unopened simply because they were taught not to knock.
If my parents had told me that I could never become a lawyer because we came from humble beginnings, because we lived with so little, then, I would not be where I am today. I would not have had the chance to represent the Philippines abroad. I would not
have international clients. I would not be standing here before you.
I am here because my parents believed in me. They invested in me.
They guided me every step of the way.

So, in conclusion, this is a shared journey, you must be a team. To my dear pupils, you must have a clear vision for your life, the grit to pursue it, and a
relentless belief in yourself.
And to the parents, you must believe in your children, instill in them the right values, and create an environment where they can grow, thrive, and succeed.
Because when vision, perseverance, and support come together, there is nothing a child cannot become. Thank you.“

Truly grateful for this meaningful visit! 💚
Our GSPs of Remedios Trinidad Elementary School were inspired by the words, experiences, and leadership shared by our investing officer, Ma’am Sonia N. Cabalona. A reminder that strong values and dedication can shape a brighter future and help make our country a more beautiful place to live.

“Today, we gather not just to invest you with scarves and badges, but to entrust you with a mission. As Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of RTR Elementary School, you are called to live by the values of service, discipline, leadership, and love for country.

Service means helping others with a kind heart and a willing spirit. As Scouts, we serve our school, community, and country by doing good deeds and being ready to help at all times;

Discipline is learning to follow rules, respect others, and do what is right even when no one is watching. It helps Scouts become responsible, respectful, and trustworthy individuals;

Leadership is the ability to guide, inspire, and work with others toward a common goal.

Scouts show leadership by setting good examples, making wise decisions, and helping others grow; and

Love for country means honoring our nation through respect for our flag, laws, culture, and fellow citizens. Scouts express patriotism by being responsible citizens and working to make the Philippines a better place for all.

With the theme "Empowering the Youth, Strengthening the Nation," we are reminded that a strong nation begins with young citizens who are prepared to serve, to lead, and to care for others. Every good deed you perform, every rule you uphold, and every promise you keep helps build a better school, a stronger community, and a brighter future for our country.

Wear your Scout uniform with pride. Let it remind you that you are role models-ready to help, ready to lead, and ready to make a difference. As empowered youth, you are today's hope and tomorrow's nation-builders.

Mabuhay ang GSP at BSP!”
