Monday, November 9, 2026, is a special (non-working) day in Eastern Samar, as the province celebrates its 61st founding anniversary.

Malacaรฑang made the declaration through Proclamation No. 1490, so that Estehanons can take a break from work and school and join the celebration with their families and communities.

The anniversary is a chance for the province to pause and look back on six decades of growth โ€” and for every Estehanon to be part of it.

Former governor Ben Evardone, who initiated the Isang Propesyonal, Isang Pamilya (IPIP) Invitational Golf Tournament, reaffirmed his commitment to making college education accessible to more families in Eastern Samar during the eventโ€™s fourth edition on October 15 at the Valley Golf and Country Club.

Now chairperson of the Waray-Waray Golfers Club Inc., Evardone thanked the players, sponsors, and supporters who helped sustain the initiative, which aims to give more families the opportunity to send their children to college.
