A proud moment for Bohol as locally grown cacao earns recognition on the ASEAN stage. Handcrafted chocolate bonbons by Boholana chocolatier Rose Amores-Hudson of Victoria Amores Chocolates were personally selected to be served to ASEAN leaders during the ASEAN Leaders' Gala Night in Cebu.

This milestone showcases the world-class quality of Bohol cacao and highlights the dedication of local farmers, processors, and chocolate makers who continue to elevate Philippine chocolate to global recognition.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bohol, in partnership with Bohol Island State University (BISU), officially launched the Shared Service Facility (SSF) for the Bohol Food Development Center on May 28, 2026, at the Bohol Island State University – Calape Campus, Calape, Bohol.

As part of the activity, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing was conducted signifying the strengthened collaboration and shared commitment between DTI and BISU in advancing food innovation, product development, and support services for local industries and communities in Bohol.

Present during the MOA Signing were DTI Bohol Provincial Director Vierna Teresa C. Ligan, SME Development Division Chief Jerome John J. Gabin, BISU University President Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, and BISU-Calape Campus Director Dr. Roxanne P. Altea.

The establishment of the Bohol Food Development Center aims to address gaps in the food industry by supporting product development, process optimization, testing, and value-adding of local raw materials. Through this initiative, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), local producers, and stakeholders will be provided access to modern food processing facilities and technical support that can enhance product competitiveness, create new revenue opportunities, and develop commercially viable food products for both local and international markets.
