68 LIVESTOCK BENEFIT FROM OPV ANIMAL CLINIC AND TECHNO-UPDATING IN BATUAN

Batuan, Bohol - In response to the request of the Municipal Agriculture Office of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Batuan, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) successfully conducted an Animal Clinic and Techno-Updating Activity on March 3, 2026, in Purok 2 and Purok 3 of Barangay Santa Cruz, Batuan, Bohol, benefitting local livestock farmers.

The activity aimed to improve livestock health and productivity by providing essential veterinary services and enhancing farmers' knowledge on effective livestock management. A Techno-Updating session on Artificial Insemination (Al) and proper animal conditioning was also conducted to strengthen the farmers' technical skills in livestock production.

During the activity, the veterinary team provided the following services:

Deworming
Vitamin Injections
Artificial Insemination

A total of 35 farmers participated in the activity and brought 68 livestock animals for veterinary care, composed of:

Cattle: 18 (Male: 2, Female: 16)
Goats: 10 (Male: 2, Female: 8)
Carabaos: 33 (Male: 10, Female: 23)

The activity was successfully carried out through the collaborative efforts of OPV Technicians and Staff, namely Christian Jake D. Nuñeza, Phillip Jessie Canencia, Sany Geh L. Paña, John Cario D. Nuera, Dunelle B. Maitem and Aaron S. Palado.

Also assisting in the activity were OPV Interns Princess Jewel Piquero and Rainne Annika Arriesgado, Veterinary Medicine Students from South Western University.

Support was likewise extended by LGU Batuan Al Technicians, John Ronan Manubay and Gerald R. Cabug-os, under the leadership of Municipal Agriculturist, Mariflor Pagador, together with Alexander Casinillo from PCC-USF who served as PCC A.I. Technician.

This initiative reflects the continued commitment of OPV to support livestock farmers by strengthening animal health programs, improving livestock productivity, and promoting sustainable livestock development in the Province of Bohol.

ANIMAL CLINIC AND TECHNO UPDATING CONDUCTED IN SAGBAYAN, BOHOL

SAGBAYAN, BOHOL - The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Sagbayan and partner agencies, successfully conducted an Animal Clinic and Techno Updating activity on February 19, 2026, in Purok 2 and Purok 3 of Barangay Kagawasan, Sagbayan, Bohol.

The activity aimed to strengthen livestock production in the municipality through the delivery of essential veterinary services and technical knowledge enhancement.

Farmers received updated information on Artificial Insemination (A.I.) and Animal Conditioning, equipping them with improved strategies to enhance breeding efficiency, herd productivity, and overall animal health management.

During the activity, veterinary services were provided to a total of 68 animals. Among the animals served were 42 cattle, 19 goats and 7 carabaos.

* 66 animals underwent deworming, while 68 were administered vitamin injections to boost their health and resistance.

* Artificial insemination services were successfully performed on two (2) animals during this particular activity.

A total of 32 farmers actively participated in the activity showing strong community engagement and support for livestock development initiatives.

The success of the initiative was made possible through the dedication and collaborative efforts of OPV technicians and staff, namely Christian Jake D. Nuñeza, Phillip Jessie Canencia, Felix C. Baldivino, Sany Geh L. Paña, John Carlo D. Nuera, and Renato Talandrata. Support from the LGU of Sagbayan led by Arlen R. Aparri, Municipal Agriculturist, particularly through Jeffrey Lamoste, A.I. Technician, and Alexander Casinillo from PCC-USF as PCC A.I. Technician, was also instrumental. Through this continued partnership, veterinary services are brought closer to farmers, ensuring accessible technical assistance, improved genetic quality of livestock, and strengthened livelihood opportunities for the farming communities of Sagbayan.

TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office VII (DA RFO 7), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bohol through the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV), successfully conducted the initial release of the African Swine Fever (ASF) Indemnification Financial Assistance to 655 affected farmers today, February 19, 2026, at the Bohol Cultural Center in Tagbilaran City.

The activity brought together affected swine raisers from the different municipalities of Bohol, marking another important step in the government’s efforts to help farmers recover from the losses caused by ASF. The financial assistance provides support to rebuild their livelihoods and restore the local hog industry.

Through the strong collaboration of DA RFO 7 and OPV, the validation, facilitation, and orderly release of financial assistance were carried out efficiently, ensuring beneficiaries received the support they deserve.

VALENCIA, BOHOL - In response to a request from the local community, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) conducted a livestock support and veterinary services activity in Barangay Nailo, Valencia, Bohol on January 29, 2026.

The activity featured a Techno-Updating on Artificial Insemination (AI) and Animal Conditioning performed by Livestock and Poultry Production (LPP) team at the Barangay Covered Court, where farmers received the latest knowledge on proper livestock management and modern breeding technologies.

On-site veterinary services were also provided in Purok 5 and Purok 7, including deworming, vitamin injections, artificial insemination, and pregnancy diagnosis, benefiting 54 animals: Cattle: 50 heads (12 males, 38 females); Goats: 4 heads (1 male, 3 females). A total of 21 livestock farmers received both technical guidance and essential veterinary care for their animals.

The activity was conducted in coordination with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of Valencia, headed by Ma. Concepcion N. Bongola, with assistance from AI Technician, Mr. Redentor Diacor, ensuring smooth and effective delivery of services.

This initiative highlights the continuing commitment of the Provincial Government of Bohol, through the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, to support local farmers by improving animal health, enhancing breeding efficiency, and promoting sustainable livestock development in the province.

UBAY, Bohol - Bohol became a venue for global learning as 39 delegates from 11 countries - France, Costa Rica, Brazil, Bangladesh, Africa, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Nigeria, Canada, and USA - participated in an interaction activity led by the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) on January 14, 2026, at the Philippine Carabao Center, Ubay.
The activity highlighted the 25-year sustainability of the LETS HELP Bohol Program under Heifer Project International (HPI). Mr. Romulo G. Garcia, Program Coordinator, presented the program’s milestones, strategies, and long-term impacts, emphasizing how it has transformed livestock beneficiaries into self-reliant, values-driven, and empowered community partners across the province.
Ms. Lorna S. Perenio, Municipal Agriculturist of Catigbian, shared how the program became the most meaningful experience of her career - strengthening livelihoods, reinforcing community values, and leaving a lasting impact on both her municipality and her journey as a public servant.
Meanwhile, Ms. Neena Joshi, Senior Vice President for Asia Programs of Heifer International, highlighted the power of “Passing on the Gift,” noting that the program’s principles remain alive and effective even after 25 years. She praised the LETS HELP Bohol Program as a strong example of sustainability and emphasized that its core values continue to guide ongoing provincial government projects.
The activity was attended by presidents and representatives of farmers’ organizations, including the Haguilanan and Kauswagan Farmers Associations of Catigbian, the San Isidro Farmers Association and its Bookkeeper from Ubay, and the Katipunan Farmers Association of Carmen, showcasing strong participation from local beneficiaries and partners.
Bohol continues to inspire the world through values-based and sustainable livelihood development.

The Provincial Government of Bohol, through the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV), in partnership with Biyaya Animal Care, will conduct free spay and neuter services for dogs as part of its continuing efforts to promote responsible pet ownership and humane animal population management across the province.

The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian reminds the public of the following:
• Registration will be on a first come, first served basis, with a maximum of 200 pets accommodated per day.
• Pre-registration is required. Interested pet owners are advised to coordinate with their respective City/Municipal Veterinary or Agriculture Offices for registration and additional guidelines.
• Walk-in participants will not be accommodated.

The Provincial Government of Bohol, led by Gov. Before the year ended, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian conducted an 𝘖𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮 across 42 municipalities and 1 city strengthening efforts to protect human and animal health from diseases of public health and socio-economic importance.
The activity aimed to raise awareness on the importance of meat inspection, particularly in areas without slaughter facilities and trained meat inspectors. Participants included meat vendors, market administrators, sanitary inspectors, and members of the Committee on Agriculture, promoting a coordinated and multi-sectoral approach to meat safety.
Discussions emphasized 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘏𝘺𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘤 𝘚𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 and compliance with 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘔𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴, further enhancing local capacities to ensure availability of safe, wholesome, and quality meat for consumers.

𝐃𝐚𝐮𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐬

A total of 38 dogs underwent free surgical procedures during the spay and neuter services conducted by the Provincial Government of Bohol through the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian on December 17, 2025, at the Poblacion Covered Court in Poblacion, Dauis.

Residents who brought their pets expressed their gratitude to the Provincial Government and the Local Government of Dauis, noting that the activity allowed them to have their animals spayed or neutered free of charge.

With stray dogs becoming an increasing concern in the communities, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian also reminded the pet owners of their responsibilities and encouraged them to help raise awareness on proper animal care within their barangays.

Animal population control is one of the programs of the Provincial Government of Bohol under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, aimed at building a safer and healthier community for both humans and animals in the country’s first and only UNESCO Global Geopark.

𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐀–𝐁𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞

Twenty-four (24) Barangay Livestock Aides (BALA) from the Municipality of Buenavista successfully completed the Basic Training and Refresher Course conducted by the Provincial Government of Bohol through the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian on December 16–17, 2025, at the Buenavista Municipal Hall in Poblacion, Buenavista.

The training covered important topics including the implementing guidelines of the BALA Program, common livestock-related diseases and their treatment, and the basic principles of vaccination, among others.

As frontline partners and extensions of the provincial livestock programs at the barangay level, the BALAs play a vital role in ensuring the effective delivery of animal health services and the timely implementation of livestock interventions within their respective communities. During the training, the BALAs were also reminded of their responsibility to help educate and encourage pet owners on responsible pet ownership, including proper animal care, vaccination, and compliance with animal health regulations.

The course is a mandatory requirement for newly appointed BALAs before they can officially perform their duties and responsibilities. It also serves as a prerequisite for the release of the BALA honorarium from the Provincial Government.

The Basic BALA Training Course was organized in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Buenavista through the Municipal Agriculture Office.

In line with the initiative of the Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Aris Aumentado to promote responsible pet ownership and control animal population in communities, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) conducted free spay and neuter services in the Municipality of Pres. Carlos P. Garcia on December 9–10, 2025.

The two-day activity was held in the following barangays:
📌December 9 – Brgy. Tugas: 2 dogs and 7 cats
📌December 10 – Brgy. Pitogo: 16 dogs and 8 cats

Spaying (for female animals) and neutering (for male animals) are surgical procedures that remove the reproductive organs of pets to prevent unwanted pregnancies. These procedures play a vital role in reducing the number of stray animals and promoting healthier pet populations within the community.

This spay and neuter activity was made possible through the partnership between the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian and the Local Government Unit of Pres. Carlos P. Garcia, through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist.

𝐏𝐆𝐁𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐑𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐧

The Provincial Government of Bohol under the leadership of Governor Aris Aumentado thru the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian conducted a Municipal Rabies Prevention and Eradication Council (MRPEC) orientation on December 3, 2025 at the Catigbian Municipal Hall in Poblacion, Catigbian.

The activity aimed to strengthen local efforts toward the prevention and elimination of rabies through effective coordination at the municipal and barangay levels.

The Council is composed of the barangay captains of Catigbian, along with representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Municipal Health Office. Through the orientation, participants were equipped with the necessary knowledge and guidelines to effectively implement rabies prevention and elimination programs within their respective communities.

Dr. Christopher Jay Tanduyan and Dr. Ma. Vendra Dongel shared key insights on rabies as a disease, the Animal Welfare Act, relevant provincial ordinances, and other applicable laws which serve as the legal bases for rabies control and the promotion of responsible animal ownership in the community.

The activity, which was conducted in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Catigbian, also emphasized the respective roles and responsibilities of pet owners, barangays(BLGU), and the municipal local government unit (MLGU) in ensuring the effective implementation of rabies prevention and control measures.
