The DOST- Industrial Technology Development Institute-Packaging Technology Division (PTD) has successfully published a book chapter titled “Advanced Active Packaging Technologies for Modified Atmosphere Packaging and Controlled Release Applications” in the book Active Food Packaging: Principles, Technologies and Innovations.
This chapter discusses Advanced Active Packaging Technologies (AAPTs), which incorporate functional components that interact with packaged products by releasing or absorbing substances and responding to external stimuli. These systems maintain product quality, extend shelf life, and ensure safety, representing a significant advancement beyond conventional passive packaging.
The chapter was authored by Dr. Angel T. Basbasan, Jr. of PTD, in collaboration with Dr. Pattarin Leelaphiwat and Dr. Vanee Chonhenchob of Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand.
