Wild Birds of BGC

On July 26, before it drizzled again at 9 am, around 30 Asian Glossy Starlings were seen in the area of the BGC Bus Depot, half of which are juveniles.

We share urban space with wildlife. Both sides benefit !

Birding started at 7am and lasted for an hour and half starting from the BGC bus parking area all the way to the end of the linear park at Mckinley Road and back.

Birds seen/heard but not photographed: Golden-bellied Gerygone, Gray-rumped Swiftlet, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Garden Sunbird.

Very noticeable this morning was the presence of about a dozen Philippine Jungle Crows.

Two mystery birds appeared in BGC. The experts are stumped. Here is a video of one of them .... probably an oil-stained sparrow? The video shows the size difference with the Eurasian Tree Sparrows (Maya).

This tree along Greenway Park was very popular!

FOUR Coppersmith Barbets (PokPok) were out in the open wow! These barbets are hard to find because they blend with the green vegetation but today 7 of them were easily seen in the entire stretch of Greenway Linear Park.

Aside from the barbets, this tree was also visited by Lowland White-eyes, Yellow-vented Bulbuls, and Golden-bellied Gergyones.
