The Gen. Mariano Alvarez Youth In Action starts the campaign today, August 25, as part of GMAYIA Cares. 🌟 This initiative will focus on sharing tips, advice, and information about mental health 🧠, environmental protection 🌍, and academic success 📚.

This online initiative seeks to empower and influence the youth to take proactive steps towards personal growth, community engagement, and sustainable living. 🌱

As a registered youth-led organization in GMA, Cavite, GMAYIA is committed to interacting, connecting, and making an impact in the community both physically and online. 💪🌐

The Gen. Mariano Alvarez Youth In Action recently joined a Budget and Planning Workshop for youth-led and youth-serving groups at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall on August 14, 2024. 🗓️🏛️ This workshop, conducted by the Local Youth Development Office, aimed to help youth organizations manage and plan their projects more efficiently and effectively. 📈💼

The organization was represented by SKM Marcus Saladino, SKM Kurt Icaro, Devine Santos, and Angelu De Guzman. 👥 They took part in sessions that covered advocacy identification, program planning, and project management. The goal was to equip young leaders with the skills they need to make their organizations run smoothly and make a bigger impact in their communities. 🌟

GMAYIA’s participation shows its commitment to building its own skills and supporting other youth initiatives. As the first youth organization established in Metro San Jose, GMAYIA is setting an example for others and leading the way in youth engagement and leadership. 🚀🌍

The Executive Committee members of GMAYIA, headed by GMAYIA Representative to the Municipal Youth Development Council SKM Marcus Saladino, are thrilled to announce that the organization will participate in the Global Youth Summit 2024 at the Mall of Asia Arena on August 27. The execom members who will also represent GMAYIA at the event are SKM Kurt Icaro, SKM Rency Ignacio, and Ms. Angelu De Guzman.

GMAYIA's participation in this prestigious event marks a significant milestone, as the organization is the first Metro San Jose youth-led group registered in the Local Youth Development Council. This opportunity aligns with the organization’s vision of "From Local to Global," aiming to elevate GMAYIA's influence and impact from the local community to the global stage. 🌍🚀

Under the banner of the "Magtanim Tayo" campaign, the Gen. Mariano Alvarez Youth In Action (GMAYIA) has been actively promoting urban gardening since November 2023. The initiative aims to encourage sustainable food production and support local communities by providing them with the necessary resources to grow their own vegetables.

As part of this campaign, GMAYIA has distributed 200 packs of various vegetable seeds to different groups across Metro San Jose. The seeds include a variety of nutritious crops such as pechay, mustard greens, chilli pepper, eggplant, and okra. These seeds were handed out to beneficiaries to encourage them to start their own vegetable gardens at home or within their communities.

In addition to the seeds, the organization also distributed agriculture-related pamphlets and brochures. These educational materials are intended to empower beneficiaries with knowledge on how to effectively grow and utilize these crops, further enhancing their food security and self-sufficiency.

Moreover, compost fertilizers were provided to the beneficiaries to ensure that their gardens thrive with the added benefit of sustainable, eco-friendly gardening practices.

The primary beneficiaries of this initiative include members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Barangay Tiago and Barangay Gregoria, as well as parents of Grade six students of San Jose Elementary School and other residents of Metro San Jose. These groups received the seeds, brochures, and compost fertilizers as part of the ongoing effort to enhance community resilience and promote sustainable agriculture.

The success of the "Magtanim Tayo" campaign is made possible through collaboration with key partners, including Barangay Captain Rockvil Reginio, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, and the Municipal Agriculturist Office. Our collective efforts have significantly contributed to the widespread distribution of resources and the promotion of sustainable practices in Metro San Jose.

GMAYIA remains committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), as we continue to foster a greener, healthier, and more self-sufficient community.

Gen. Mariano Alvarez Youth In Action (GMAYIA) Members, along with the Supreme Secondary Learners Student Government of San Jose Community High School, participated in the third GMA Youth Summit on August 17, 2024, as part of the Municipality's weeklong celebration of International Youth Week.

GMAYIA advocates youth empowerment and active citizenship, nurturing the next generation of leaders. By collaborating with local institutions and organizations, GMAYIA seeks to create opportunities that will inspire and equip young people to take on leadership roles in their communities.

The weeklong celebration of International Youth Week headed by the Local Youth Development Office GMA underscores the Municipality's commitment to fostering youth leadership, participatory governance, and civic engagement.
