Cooperative members and their families received free health services as Taguig opened its 2026 Cooperative Month celebration and concluded Wellness Month on October 3 at Domes 1, 2 and 3 of the Taguig Lakeshore complex.

The Taguig City Cooperative Development Office (TCDO) organized the activity with the City Health and Wellness Office and the participation of PhilHealth YAKAP to promote preventive care and healthy lifestyles among cooperative leaders, employees, members and their families.

Services included blood typing, dental cleaning, fluoride application, tooth extraction, flu vaccination and other immunization services, random blood sugar and cholesterol testing, and cervical, breast and prostate screening. Participants also joined a bloodletting activity and registered for PhilHealth and YAKAP.

Mayor Lani Cayetano said the joint celebration highlighted the role of health and wellness in strengthening the cooperative sector:

“Natatangi po ang selebrasyon natin ng Coop Month this year dahil two in one ang ginawa nating selebrasyon—pagdiriwang para sa diwa ng kooperatibismo at ang pagpo-promote ng City of Taguig ng ating wellness program.”

She encouraged participants to care for their mental, emotional and spiritual health alongside their physical well-being:

“Mahalaga ang malakas na pangangatawan, pero pahalagahan din po natin ang kalusugan ng kaisipan, kalusugan ng ating damdamin, at maging ang ating spiritual health. As City Mayor of Taguig, I'd like to thank you all for being an integral part in building a truly Transformative, Lively and Caring City.”

TCDO head Lecira “Bing” Juarez said cooperation between the government and cooperatives can help families address health risks:

“Ang pamilya ng kooperatiba ay pamilya ng buong Taguig. Ang pinakamalaking banta sa buhay ng isang pamilya ay ang biglaang pagkakasakit. Kaya naman po, kapag ang gobyerno at ang kooperatiba ay nagkakaisa, ang buong komunidad ay magiging malusog at matatag.”

For Ma. Luisa Sol, 61, a cooperative member from Barangay Katuparan, the activity offered a chance to undergo health screening while spending time with fellow members.

“Masaya po ang experience ko dahil bago pa lamang magsimula ay nakapag-Zumba pa kami. Sunod ay nag-avail agad ako ng health services tulad ng cervical at breast screening. Malaking tulong po ito sa amin bilang mga cooperative members dahil napapangalagaan namin ang aming mga kalusugan, lalo na sa panahon ngayon.”

Health and nutrition talks complemented the free services, giving participants practical advice on preventing illness and developing healthy habits.

Dr. Marie Yvette Kirsten Roldan discussed adult health in her talk, “Live Well, Stay Well: A Comprehensive Guide to Adult Health,” covering disease prevention and informed health choices.

Registered nutritionist-dietitian Mary Joyce Alcayaga discussed balanced nutrition and sustainable eating habits in “Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit for Life,” explaining how these can support productivity and quality of life.

TCDO Hosts Flag Ceremony in Recognition of National Cooperative Month

The Taguig City Cooperative Development Office (TCDO) was honored to host the City Government of Taguig’s Flag Ceremony in recognition of National Cooperative Month.

Following the flag-raising ceremony, a Cooperative Trade Fair was held, featuring a variety of products from ACDI, Mag-iitik Cooperative, and Kakanin Cooperative. The trade fair provided an opportunity to showcase the products and talents of our local cooperatives and highlight the value of supporting cooperative enterprises.

TCDO extends its sincere appreciation to Mayor Lani Cayetano, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, and all our partner offices for their support and cooperation in making this celebration possible.

1,000 STRONG: A POWERFUL START TO COOPERATIVE MONTH 2026!

What an incredible way to kick off Cooperative Month 2026!

The Cooperative Month 2026 Opening Program and Massive and Inclusive Health and Wellness Program brought together more than 1,000 cooperative leaders, employees, and members for a day filled with energy, smiles, wellness, and meaningful moments of connection.

The celebration started with an energetic Zumba session, as our cooperators danced, moved, and enjoyed the morning together. The smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm of everyone who joined truly reflected the vibrant spirit of our cooperative community.

The celebration also provided an opportunity for our cooperators to prioritize their health and well-being, with various wellness services and activities made accessible to participants throughout the event. It was a meaningful reminder that caring for the people who make our cooperatives thrive is just as important as strengthening the organizations themselves.

We were honored to have Mayor Lani Cayetano with us, showing her continued support for the cooperative sector and emphasizing the importance of health and wellness in building stronger and healthier communities.

Also joining us was Congressman Ading Cruz, whose presence and dedication further strengthened the spirit of partnership throughout the celebration.

From every dance step to every smile, wellness activity, and moment of camaraderie, today was a celebration of people, partnership, and community.

More than just an opening celebration, the event showed what can happen when our cooperative community comes together with a common goal: healthier people, stronger cooperatives, and a stronger Taguig.

With the incredible energy and participation of our cooperative community, Cooperative Month 2026 is off to a strong and memorable start!

Let’s celebrate Cooperative Month 2026 with health, unity, service, and bayanihan! 🤝

𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐈𝐆 𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐒 𝟐𝐍𝐃 𝐍𝐂𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐎𝐏𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄

Around 600 cooperative development officers, leaders, government partners and stakeholders gathered in Taguig on Thursday, September 17, for the 2nd Regional Conference for Cooperative Development in the National Capital Region (RCCD-NCR).

Taguig is hosting the two-day conference at Lakeshore Hall in Lower Bicutan, organized by the Metro Manila Association of Cooperatives Development Officers (MEMACDO) know now as the League of Cooperative Development Officers of the Philippines (LCDOP-NCR Chapter)

With the theme “Sustaining the Cooperative Movement: Synergy in Compliance, Strength in Well-Being,” the conference provides a venue for participants to exchange experiences, discuss regulatory and governance concerns, and strengthen cooperation among stakeholders.

Mayor Lani Cayetano welcomed the delegates and emphasized the value of sharing practical approaches to cooperative development:

“Every cooperative and every local government has its own experiences. We also have different resources and face different challenges. But by sharing our knowledge and experiences, we strengthen our collective capacity to support the cooperative sector and our communities."

Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Chairperson Undersecretary Alexander B. Raquepo, meanwhile, highlighted the importance of unity in strengthening the cooperative movement.

“Kaya dapat malakas ang ating pagkakaisa, malakas ang ating ugnayan,” Raquepo said, citing MEMACDO's role in bringing cooperative organizations and development officers together.

CDA-NCR Regional Director Pedro T. Defensor Jr. also presented the NCR Cooperative Blueprint Paper, which covered the state of the cooperative sector, regulatory and tax compliance, sustainability, and the welfare of cooperative members and workers.

Data presented during the conference showed significant growth in Taguig's cooperative sector. Its volume of business increased from ₱986 million in 2020 to ₱71 billion in 2025, while paid-up capital rose from ₱13 billion to ₱23 billion during the same period.

The conference also tackled cooperative laws and taxation, digital compliance, credit information, labor standards, issues on school-based cooperatives, social enterprise, institutional wellness, executive and leadership resiliency,and mastering emotional intelligence .

The two-day gathering continues Friday with discussions aimed at strengthening cooperative governance, organizational capacity, and sustainable growth across Metro Manila.
