The AFP Health Service Education and Training Center recently facilitated the Closing Ceremony of the Basic Dental Technician Course Class 71-24 held in Camp Victoriano Luna, V Luna Avenue, Quezon City. The ceremony was graced by the Guest of Honor and Speaker, Dr. Ronaldo P. Nuñez, President of the Philippine Dental Association.

The BDTC Class 71, composed of 21 male and 8 female students from different Major Services, received their certificates of completion during the ceremony. The graduates endured the six-month training which equipped them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude to be morally upright, effective, and highly competent Dental Technicians in the AFP.

Three (3) among seven sailors and marines were recognized for their commendable performance throughout the course:

Sgt Leandro N Dujali PN(M) - Graduated Number 1 and Physical Proficiency Awardee (Male Category)

Sgt Floreson A Puna PN(M) - Graduated Number 2

Sgt Wilie V Gacad PN(M) - Leadership Awardee

In line with the Preventive Dentistry Program of the AFP Dental Service, the Office of The Chief Dental Surgeon Navy visited the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao to check the delivery of oral health care to Philippine Navy personnel thereat. COL WARLITO G CHEE JR DS (GSC), The Chief Dental Surgeon Navy, expressed his gratitude to COMMO CONSTANCIO ARTURO M REYES JR PN, Commander, NFEM, during the courtesy call. COMMO REYES and his Staff warmly welcomed the TCDSN and party to Davao City and conveyed his support to the Philippine Navy Dental Service.

Team OTCDSN emphasized the importance of dento-oral health and its connection with our general well-being by giving a lecture on oral health awareness and handing out dental kits to our Sailors and Marines. Aside from dental kits, the OTCDSN also distributed the PNDS Oral Health Care Handbook Volume 5 (Series of 2024) to all attendees of the TI&E. TCDSN and his Staff expressed their appreciation to Camp Panacan Dental Dispensary, headed by COL JOSE ALLAN P MENDOZA DS (GSC), for extending their assistance during this endeavor.

The Philippine Navy Dental Service celebrated its 79th Founding Anniversary with the theme: “PNDS @79: Accelerating Dental Services to Generate Fit to Serve PN Personnel Capable of National Security and Regional Harmony” with RADM JOSE MA AMBROSIO Q EZPELETA PN, Chief of Naval Staff, Philippine Navy as the Guest of Honor and Speaker on 17 July 2024 at PNCPOAI Clubhouse, Naval Station Jose Francisco, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The first part of the celebration was the Scientific Seminar featuring two Subject Matter Experts/ Lecturers who shared their knowledge and valuable insights on “Digital Meets Direct: Utilizing Digital Dentistry and Bioactives in Creating Easy Direct Aesthetic Restoration” by Dr Cez Margaret Acero-Taping and “Controversial Queries in Oral Surgery” by Dr Mariusse Chars R Esquillo. It was then followed by an open forum.

The second part and the highlight of the event was the presentation of Philippine Navy Dental Service Accomplishments 2023 which was then followed by the recognition of the exceptional Philippine Navy Dental Service Awardees for CY 2024:

ANOTHER MILESTONE FOR THE PHILIPPINE NAVY DENTAL SERVICE!

Office of The Chief Dental Surgeon Navy was conferred with GOLD (Best Sail Plan Implementing Staff) AWARD in recognition of its outstanding performance in executing the Philippine Navy Strategic Sail Plan 2028 with an overall rating of 4.23 out of 5 for CY 2023 during the Command Conference 1st Quarter CY 2024.

Moreover, the said award was personally received by LTC JASON Z LORZANO DS, Sail Plan Officer of OTCDSN during the Sail Plan Officers' Summit on 07 March 2024 at Commander's Lounge, Headquarters Philippine Navy.
