PRESIDENT MARCOS URGES 50 NEWLY PROMOTED STAR-RANKED PNP OFFICERS TO LEAD WITH INTEGRITY
Fifty newly promoted star-ranked officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) took their oath of office this morning, December 17, 2025, in a ceremony administered by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Also in attendance were Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla Jr., Acting Chief PNP Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, and his wife, Mrs. Mary Rose O. Nartatez.
The oath-taking formally recognized six newly promoted Police Major Generals and 44 Police Brigadier Generals, marking a significant milestone in their careers and commitment to public service.
In his address, President Marcos emphasized that promotion to star rank is not merely recognition of past service, but a call to meet higher standards in leadership, accountability, and public trust. “Be firm, be fair, be decisive while remaining fully respectful to the rights and dignity of every single Filipino,” the President urged.
“Promotion is not merely a recognition of past performance, but rather a clearer and higher expectation of how you must lead from this point forward,” President Marcos added. He highlighted that higher rank entails broader authority and greater influence over police operations, personnel welfare, and the public’s confidence in the PNP.
The Chief Executive encouraged the newly promoted generals to continuously improve themselves personally, professionally, and institutionally. “Do not be complacent. This is the stage where leadership is measured by your judgment, restraint, and consistency in upholding the law,” he said.
President Marcos also reaffirmed the administration’s support for PNP reforms that enhance operational capability and morale, including the updated base pay and increased daily subsistence allowance to Php350. Recognizing the importance of police families’ welfare, he assured continued government support, noting their well-being is key to effective public service.
With the holiday season approaching, President Marcos reminded the PNP officers to maintain heightened vigilance and visible presence in public areas, transport hubs, and communities to ensure the safety of citizens and the peaceful celebration of the season.
“Tiyakin ninyo ang kaligtasan ng bawat mamamayan upang tunay nating maramdaman ang saya ng Kapaskuhan nang may kapanatagan at pagkakaisa, at may tunay na ligaya,” he said.
“Public service does not pause even in times of celebration. So, continue to serve with honor, lead with purpose, always act in the best interest of our great nation and of the Filipino people,” President Marcos concluded.
The ceremony underscored the PNP’s continuing dedication to professionalism, integrity, and committed service to the Filipino people, alongside their vision of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
Acting Chief PNP PLTGEN Nartatez, who was present at the event, expressed his pride in the newly promoted officers, noting that their leadership will play a crucial role in advancing the PNP’s mission of ensuring public safety and upholding the rule of law.
