Military Declares Ten Towns in BARMM and North Cotabato Free from Communist and Local Terrorist Groups
The military has declared ten towns in BARMM and North Cotabato free from the presence and activities of Communist and Local Terrorist Groups (CTG and LTG) after six months without any recorded incidents. 602nd Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Ricky Bunayog announced this in an interview with DXMS Radyo Bida, citing resolutions issued by the respective municipal councils as the basis for the declaration.
The towns of Pigcawayan, Libungan, Midsayap, Banisilan, Alamada, and Aleosan in North Cotabato have been declared CTG-free, while Northern Kabuntalan in Maguindanao del Norte and the SGA towns of Nabalawag, Kadayangan, and Pahamudin in BARMM have been declared LTG-free. All these areas fall under the area of responsibility of the 34th Infantry Battalion.
Following the declaration, Brig. Gen. Bunayog assured the public that focused military operations will continue to prevent the return of terrorist groups. He emphasized that the terrorist-free status will significantly contribute to the economic development of the affected towns and expressed appreciation to partner line agencies for their support in achieving this milestone.
