𝗦𝗘𝗜 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 | In Butuan City, home to the ancient balangay boats that tell stories of early Filipino journeys and ingenuity, DOST-SEI undergraduate scholars from the Caraga Region took their own journey through the 2026 Scholars Leadership Camp (SLC).

The balangay serves as a fitting reminder of what leadership requires: direction, cooperation, and a clear sense of purpose. Through the camp, scholars were encouraged to think about how they can work with others, take responsibility, and contribute to the communities they are part of.

For the scholars of Caraga, SLC 2026 became a reminder that every journey needs more than a destination. It also needs people willing to take their place, work together, and move forward with purpose.

𝗦𝗘𝗜 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 | DOST-SEI and Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) welcome the inaugural batch of Bridging Education in Science and Technology for Indigenous Peoples (BEST for IP) scholars during the Orientation on Scholarship Policies and Contract Signing held at the NVSU – Bambang Campus.

In celebration of Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month, the 45 first-year IP scholars were formally introduced to the NVSU community, alongside their parents and guardians. The scholars are enrolled in priority science and technology courses at the university.

A first-of-its-kind initiative, the BEST for IP Scholarship Program aims to expand access to tertiary education for students from indigenous communities and empower them to pursue opportunities in science and technology.

Meet the 45 Bridging Education in Science and Technology for Indigenous Peoples Scholarship Program (BEST for IP) scholars of Nueva Vizcaya State University.

𝗦𝗘𝗜 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 | In celebration of CALABARZON’s Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) 2026, DOST-SEI opened the country’s twenty-third 21st Century Learning Environment Model (CLEM) Classroom at Quezon Science High School in Quezon Province.

The new learning space marks the 13th CLEM Classroom in CALABARZON. It features DOST-developed educational technologies, including interactive coursewares, augmented and virtual reality, and 3D modelling and printing equipment, to support science education and foster more engaging learning experiences for students in the province.

Present at the opening were DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, DOST Assistant Secretary for Countryside Development Engr. Maria Teresa Bien de Guzman, DOST-CALABARZON Regional Director Emelita P. Bagsit, DOST-SEI Director Dr. Jayeel S. Cornelio, Quezon Province Governor Dr. Angelina DL. Tan, and Quezon Science High School Principal Dr. Cynthia Cuya.

DOST-SEI extends its gratitude to all stakeholders and partners, particularly DOST CALABARZON and the Provincial Government of Quezon for co-funding this initiative.

𝗦𝗘𝗜 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 | The 2026 Scholars Leadership Camp (SLC) for Graduate Scholars returned for its second run, this time in Iloilo City, the City of Love, bringing together DOST-SEI scholars under the Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (CBPSME) and the Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP).

Representing Cebu Normal University, Leyte Normal University, University of San Carlos, West Visayas State University, University of the Philippines Visayas, and Visayas State University, the participants traded their usual classrooms, laboratories, and research work for a few days of heartfelt conversations, challenging activities, and shared experiences on leadership, values, and service.

Beyond the academic grind, the camp gave them time to connect with fellow scholars, exchange perspectives, and look at the bigger picture behind the work they do. As future educators, researchers, scientists, and specialists, they are also being called to bring their expertise where it matters most and help respond to the needs of communities and the country.
