𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐈𝐆 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐒 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐉𝐎𝐘 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐍 𝐈𝐍 ‘𝐘𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐏 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀 𝐒𝐀 𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐏’
Children from the Taguig Lingap Center spent a day of games, performances and fellowship with members of the Taguig 8th City Council during the “Yakap para sa Lingap” outreach program on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Held at the Barangay Calzada Multipurpose Building as part of Philippine Councilors’ Week, the activity brought together 41 children and social workers from the center.
The children enjoyed magic and puppet shows by Kuya Bojie, karaoke with city councilors and social workers, and a shared meal. Jollibee mascots joined the celebration for children born in September.
The children also received lunch bags and toiletries from the city, as well as food and books from Jollibee Foods Corp.
Among them was “Tony,” 11, who has been staying at the Lingap Center for 10 months. He said he particularly enjoyed the puppet show and shared his dream of becoming a chef someday.
“Mayor Lani, salamat po sa ginagawa ninyo para sa amin, pati na sa mga event at outreach para masaya kami palagi. Salamat po dahil may Lingap Center para ligtas kami,” Tony said.
Social worker John Timothy Espacio described Tony as a kind and respectful child who has become a big brother to younger children at the center. He also thanked Mayor Lani Cayetano for supporting programs for children and regularly visiting the shelter.
Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit, meanwhile, encouraged the children to continue pursuing their dreams:
“Patuloy ninyong abutin ang inyong mga pangarap. Tandaan ninyo na nandito lang kaming inyong mga lingkod na palaging nakasuporta, nagmamahal at nananalig na magkaroon kayo ng magandang kinabukasan."
Taguig Lingap Center OIC Charmayne Rose Reyes-Bobier thanked the city government and the 8th City Council for supporting the center and its children:
“Mula noong itinayo ang Taguig Lingap Center, naramdaman po natin na ang mga bata ay hindi dapat mapabayaan—na dapat silang mahalin at magkaroon ng pamilya. Ang mga batang ito ay patuloy na nag-aaral, kumakain ng masustansya at lumalaki nang maayos dahil sa mga taong sumusuporta sa amin."
