Duty Above Self: A Tribute to S2GM Edsyle Gaquit PN(Res)
In the military and the fire service, we speak often of "Service Before Self," but few embody it as naturally as S2GM Edsyle Gaquit PN(Res).

As an active member of the 223rd Naval Reserve Squadron and a dedicated Volunteer Fireman, Edsyle has consistently proven that his community and his comrades come first. This was never more evident than on February 28, 2026. While most would be lost in the whirlwind of final wedding preparations, S2GM Gaquit was on the drill ground, serving as the Head Coach for our Fire Brigade Competition team.

His leadership, technical expertise, and steady hand guided the team to reach our goals, proving that a true leader never abandons his post when his team needs him most. He isn't just a member of our squadron; he is our pride.

To the Groom
Today, the uniform is traded for a barong, and the fire line for the wedding aisle. We stand at attention to salute a man who handles his responsibilities with the heart of a sailor and the courage of a firefighter.

Congratulations on your wedding day, S2GM Gaquit! May your new marriage be as resilient and strong as the bonds you’ve built in service.

Best wishes to the newly wed..

Hooyah!

Saluting the Women of the Navy Reserve

Celebrating National Women’s Month 2026
This National Women’s Month, we drop anchor to honor the extraordinary women of the 223rd Naval Squadron Reserve.

To the women in uniform who balance their civilian lives with the calling of the sea: we salute you. Being a member of the Philippine Navy Reserve Force is no small feat—it requires a unique blend of discipline, sacrifice, and heart.

We take this moment to recognize three core values you exemplify every day:

Integrity: Standing firm in your principles and serving as a moral compass for the squadron, ensuring that our service remains honorable and true.

Passion: Bringing an unstoppable energy to every drill, mission, and community service, proving that the love for country knows no bounds.

Pride: Carrying the name of the Philippine Navy with dignity, reminding us all that a woman’s place is wherever she chooses to serve—including the frontlines of our nation's defense.

"A salute to the lady sailors who prove that leadership and courage have no gender. Your presence strengthens our fleet and inspires the next generation of Filipina patriots."

Overcoming the Odds

The road to the competition was far from easy. The team faced numerous hurdles during the rigorous preparation phase and encountered unexpected technical difficulties during the actual events. However, in true naval fashion, the squadron stayed the course.

"We take immense pride in securing our goal," a squadron representative stated. "Despite the problems we encountered, our primary mission was to show exactly what a Navy Reservist is capable of when the pressure is on."

A Victory of Teamwork

This achievement was not built by individuals, but by a cohesive unit supported by strong leadership. We extend our deepest gratitude to our Commander, CDR LEONARDO B MELLA PN(RES), and the Commander of the 22nd Naval Group Reserve, CDR REYNALDO M ROSAS PN(MNSA)(RES) , for their invaluable guidance.

Furthermore, we are immensely proud of our squadron’s Officers and Command staff, whose tireless support served as the backbone of our performance.

The 223rd Naval Squadron Reserve proved once again that we are ready, capable, and committed to excellence—whether at sea or on the front lines of emergency response.

The Navy Reservist Legacy

By participating in the Cluster 1 competition, the 223rd Naval Squadron Reserve has reinforced its status as a vital pillar of the Cavite community. The event highlighted that whether on the sea or in the heart of an industrial zone, the "Citizen Soldiers" of the Philippine Navy are always ready to respond, rescue, and relieve.

Bravo Zulu to the 223rd Naval Squadron!
