LAPU-LAPU CITY, CEBU I The Philippine Marine Corps reaffirmed its full support for the 48th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, themed “Navigating Our Future, Together”, by successfully completing its security mission in support of the Presidential Security Command at Shangri-La Mactan and Dusit Thani Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, from May 6 to 8, 2026.

Operating in seamless coordination with other law enforcement and security units, the presence and deployment of Philippine Marines personnel ensured a safe, secure, and orderly environment for all participating global leaders, delegates, and visitors throughout the event.

Beyond securing the immediate perimeter and venue, this deployment served as a vital exercise in inter-agency interoperability, joint cooperation, and upholding regional stability. This successful undertaking further reinforces the Philippine Marine Corps’ operational readiness, capability, and unwavering commitment to protecting the nation and serving as a reliable partner in safeguarding major international gatherings.

The AFP on Wednesday night clarified that the Marines seen inside the Senate were in fact part of the regular security detail following confusions about their presence following the shooting inside the building.

The AFP said the personnel were members of the Marine Security and Es**rt Group assigned to provide perimeter security at the Senate. “The soldiers seen inside the building were called by the OSAA (Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms) to assist them in securing the facility,” the AFP said in a statement.

According to the AFP, it maintains an institutional security detail at vital government installations, facilities, and landmarks.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Tuesday that Marine deployments in key government and public areas, including the Senate, Malacañang Palace, and the Rizal Monument, are part of standard security operations and are not linked to any recent incident.

AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla said troops are routinely assigned to provide perimeter security in various institutions as part of long-standing protocols.

The Philippine Marines showcased their combat readiness and interoperability skills alongside U.S. Marines from the 3rd Marine Division during a weapons training class focused on maritime key terrain security operations in Batan, Batanes Islands, Philippines.

The training highlights the Philippine Marine Corps’ growing capability in coastal defense, maritime security, and joint operations in strategically important areas near the country’s northern frontier.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 I The Philippine Marine Corps (PMC), in partnership with the Philippine Marine Corps Foundation Inc. (PMCFI), Hands for Vitality Community Health (HFVCH), the University of Quebec Trois-Rivières Camara Institute for Chiropractic Services in Canada, and Intercare, conducted a Chiropractic Health and Wellness Activity for Marine personnel on May 11, 2026 at the Senior NCO Clubhouse, Marine Barracks Rudiardo Brown, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Facilitated by the Office of Civil-Military Operations (CMO), MC7, the event formed part of the Command’s community relations program aimed at promoting the health and well being of Marine personnel through chiropractic care, wellness services, and health education, while also strengthening partnerships with stakeholders.

Other health providers, including Human Nature, DMI Medical Supply Co., Inc., Top Vision Optical, NSE Essential Oils Retailing, and Sanacion Massage, also participated in support of the initiative.

The Philippine Marine Corps extends its sincere gratitude to the Philippine Marine Corps Foundation Inc. (PMCFI) for its continued support in uplifting the morale and welfare of Marines and their dependents.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | The Philippines and US Forces successfully completed and formally turned over the ENCAP-1 School Library Building at the location of 4th Marine Brigade, Philippine Marine Corps in San Vicente Elementary School, Santa Ana, Cagayan on May 8, 2026. The project highlighted the strong PH-US Forces partnership in promoting education, community development, and strengthened bilateral defense cooperation through joint engineering and civil-military initiatives.
