𝗢𝗸𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮 - On September 25, distinguished leaders from different sectors gathered at Okada Manila for the Asia’s Modern Hero Awards 2026, an evening that celebrated individuals whose leadership, service, and contributions have made a meaningful difference in the Philippines and across Asia.

Among the honorees was 𝗨𝗣 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗣𝗜 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗼 𝗔. 𝗝𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘇. His recognition highlighted the significance of leadership in education and public service, particularly in strengthening institutions and creating opportunities that contribute to nation-building.

The recognition also placed his work alongside that of leaders from government, business, healthcare, science and technology, civic organizations, and other fields. Though their work spans different sectors, the honorees shared a common thread: using their respective roles and platforms to serve others and contribute to society.

For Atty. Jimenez, the occasion marked a recognition of his continuing commitment to education and public service. It was also a reminder of how the work of an institution, and the people who lead it can extend beyond its walls and create a wider impact on communities and the country.

In bringing these stories together, the Asia’s Modern Hero Awards 2026 celebrated not only individual accomplishments, but also the many forms that meaningful leadership and service can take.

The Philippine Energy Research and Policy Institute (PERPI), through its Research Development and Policy Utilization Division (RDPUD), conducted a Roundtable Discussion (RTD) on “𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐑𝐂 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐟 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤” on September 29, 2026, at the University of the Philippines Bonifacio Global City.

The discussion featured the initial findings of PERPI’s research study, “Unpacking the Price of Biomass Power: A Regulatory and Cost Analysis of ERC’s Tariff Framework in the Philippine Energy Sector.”

The activity brought together representatives from the government, industry, and other stakeholders to discuss the study’s initial findings, examine their implications for biomass power development and renewable energy policies, and gather valuable insights and recommendations to further refine the study.

Facilitated by Atty. Jose M. Layug, Jr., PERPI Executive Board Member, the RTD also provided a platform to discuss the study’s findings in the context of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) recent launch of the Green Energy Auction (GEA) 6 for Biomass and ongoing developments in the Philippine energy sector.

Through initiatives like this, PERPI continues to promote evidence-based discussions and stakeholder engagement to support informed energy policymaking and sustainable energy development.

Quezon City – On 𝟎𝟖 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, the Philippine Energy Research and Policy Institute (PERPI) conducted a courtesy visit to 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐂𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐎𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐀. 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨 at the TransCo Building, Quezon Avenue, Quezon City. The meeting served as an opportunity to introduce PERPI, strengthen institutional collaboration, and discuss potential data-sharing initiatives to support the Institute’s ongoing research projects.

The discussions highlighted the importance of evidence-based research, knowledge sharing, and inter-agency cooperation in addressing the country’s energy trilemma of energy security, affordability, and sustainability. Both institutions expressed their commitment to exploring future areas of collaboration that will contribute to informed energy policy and sector development.

Another round of significant fuel price increases takes effect tomorrow 📈

The latest adjustments come amid continued disruptions in the global oil market, including the shutdown of Saudi Arabia’s Petroline oil pipeline.

The price changes will take effect at 6:00 AM on September 22, adding to the consecutive fuel price hikes motorists have faced in recent weeks.
